Woven by Toyota is enabling Toyota’s once-in-a-century transformation into a mobility company. Inspired by a legacy of innovating for the benefit of others, our mission is to challenge the current state of mobility through human-centric innovation — expanding what “mobility” means and how it serves society.

Our work centers on four pillars: AD/ADAS, our autonomous driving and advanced driver assist technologies; Arene, our software development platform for software-defined vehicles; Woven City, a test course for mobility; and Cloud & AI, the digital infrastructure powering our collaborative foundation. Business-critical functions empower these teams to execute, and together, we’re working toward one bold goal: a world with zero accidents and enhanced well-being for all.

TEAM
The Woven By Toyota North America Systems Verification & Validation (V&V) team focuses on systems thinking in innovating, developing, and managing advanced AD/ADAS systems that prioritize safety, meet client needs, and drive Woven By Toyotas advanced product development for integration. The US Systems V&V Team’s responsibility is to define system performance criteria for product features and perform verification of system performance for deployment to public roads. The candidate will report to the Systems V&V Manager.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Our Systems V&V team is looking for an SW Systems Engineer who is knowledgeable of AD/ADAS systems, safety processes, capable of translating user requirements into autonomous software system requirements, working with multi-disciplined design teams, managing interfaces, managing technical risk, transitioning technology from research concepts into program-specific efforts and verifying those designs meet operational needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate across various teams, including product, program management, software, tooling, and hardware, to implement the roadmap for launching AD/ADAS systems
  • Develop system-level software requirements and decompose to lower-level subsystems (e.g. sensor, Human Machine Interface, compute)
  • Develop system latency budgets based on scenario analysis and working cross-functionally across different disciplines
  • Generate an evaluation system for assessing system performance against product-level Key Performance Indicators
  • Define system and sub-system level architecture
  • Perform functional safety analysis
  • Lead cross-functional technical design reviews
  • Define and support the execution of systems verification and validation testing

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years of professional work experience, preferably working around complex system development
  • Master’s degree in one of the following fields: mechanical, electrical, computer engineering, or related disciplines
  • Experience developing complex systems combining remote sensing technology, Artificial Intelligence, and Controls for a safety-critical application
  • Experience in an automotive production environment
  • Expertise in transforming high-level mission or product requirements into a robust architecture, including detailed requirement decomposition and ensuring end-to-end traceability
  • Demonstrated experience performing engineering analysis & trade studies of entire system covering perception, electronics, mechanical components, controls, and safety
  • Demonstrated experience defining and executing verification and validation testing for complex systems
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully launching automotive programs or other domain-specific initiatives for customers
  • Ability to influence, negotiate, and inspire others in a matrixed environment
  • Proven ability to operate effectively and autonomously across multiple teams in situations of ambiguity, with only high-level direction
  • Experience in requirement derivation, tracking, and verification test processes (V diagram) in automotive applications
  • Understanding of typical vehicle communication protocols/interfaces
  • Experience in systems integration, vehicle testing, functional safety, and vehicle launch
  • Software coding skills (MATLAB, Python or C/C++)
