Woven Planet

Remote HybridPalo Alto, CA
Woven by Toyota is enabling Toyota’s once-in-a-century transformation into a mobility company. Inspired by a legacy of innovating for the benefit of others, our mission is to challenge the current state of mobility through human-centric innovation — expanding what “mobility” means and how it serves society.

Our work centers on four pillars: AD/ADAS, our autonomous driving and advanced driver assist technologies; Arene, our software development platform for software-defined vehicles; Woven City, a test course for mobility; and Cloud & AI, the digital infrastructure powering our collaborative foundation. Business-critical functions empower these teams to execute, and together, we’re working toward one bold goal: a world with zero accidents and enhanced well-being for all.

Team
The Simulation & Evaluation Tooling team plays a key role in supporting the development of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) at our company. We provide the core capabilities to simulate ADAS software and evaluate its performance using data from real-world drives, ground truth systems, and simulations.

Our mission is to deliver scalable tools and workflows that enable rapid, high-confidence development of ADAS features. This includes simulation integration, data pipelines, analysis tooling, and developer-facing web applications. We partner closely with ADAS developers, systems engineering, release, and infrastructure teams to provide intuitive workflows that support testing at scale and insight generation from real-world and simulated data.

Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for a Senior Engineer with a strong background in AD/ADAS development, particularly in data engineering and data analytics. The ideal candidate will have experience with large-scale data ETL pipelines, schema design, web services and APIs, cloud infrastructure, and test automation, with a proven track record of applying these skills to AD/ADAS systems development. A solid understanding of AD/ADAS systems and their development processes is essential.

This role involves cross-functional collaboration to identify and address opportunities for improving and accelerating AD/ADAS development. This includes designing and leading the implementation of tools to:
Scale execution of simulations and evaluations.
Debug issues using real-world and simulated data.
Measure performance against functional and behavioral requirements
Explore and interpret test results across scenarios, datasets, and development fleet data

You will work closely with simulation engineers, ADAS developers, systems engineering, and release teams to maintain and enhance developer-facing tools, ensuring they are modular, testable, scalable, efficient, and maintainable.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Implement Scalable Developer Workflows – Build systems that enable large-scale simulation and log evaluation across real-world and synthetic scenarios.
  • Develop and Maintain the Evaluation Framework – Provide core capabilities for loading, enriching, and evaluating drive logs and simulation data, while enabling developers to define and deploy their own evaluation logic.
  • Support Insight and Analysis – Build tools and pipelines that allow teams to explore, interpret, and visualize results across structured simulation tests and development fleet data.
  • Uplevel Engineering Practices – Drive improvements in modularity, observability, testability of critical developer workflows.
  • Collaborate Across Functions – Work closely with ADAS developers, simulation engineers, systems engineering, and infrastructure teams to align on requirements and ensure solutions integrate smoothly into the broader development ecosystem.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • 3+ years of experience in development in Python
  • Experience designing scalable, maintainable systems using best practices in modularity, testing, observability, and CI/CD
  • Experience with modern cloud-based development practices and services (e.g., AWS Lambda, Step Functions, container orchestration, or similar)
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to align engineering direction with product and organizational goals
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an attention to process efficiency

Nice to Haves

  • Experience building developer-facing frameworks that support authoring and deployment of analysis or metrics logic
  • Experience working on or integrating with simulation systems or building tools for simulation-based testing
  • Familiarity with verification and validation (V&V) methodologies, including test strategy development, regression analysis, and requirements-driven testing
  • Collaborative experience with globally distributed teams or external partners working on shared evaluation frameworks and KPIs
