At WorkBoard, you’ll have the opportunity to join a fast-growing, category-defining company where your work directly impacts how leaders shape the future.  The Role  <ul> <li>Build and scale a world-class accounting organization that evolves with company growth over the next 12-24 months, preparing WorkBoard for late-stage maturity.</li> <li>Own and improve the monthly close process: shorten it, strengthen it, and ensure audit readiness — target is a close cycle under 6 business days.</li> <li>Ensure full GAAP compliance (including ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 718), and establish well-documented, scalable accounting policies and procedures.</li> <li>Lead systems and process modernization (ERP upgrades, equity management, billing systems, and AI-driven tools) to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability.</li> <li>Improve or build internal controls, aligned with current needs and future SOX-light or full SOX readiness.</li> <li>Support audits, fundraising or diligence processes, and financial due diligence as needed.</li> <li>Own administration of all variable compensation plans and equity accounting, including bonus plans and commissions: stock options, RSUs, warrants, and cap table reconciliations in partnership with Legal and HR.</li> <li>Support international expansion with consolidation, currency management, and cross-border accounting processes where relevant.</li> <li>Be directly in the succession plan for CFO, stepping up in leadership, vision, and ownership. </li> </ul> What Success Looks Like (First 12-18 Months)  <ul> <li>The monthly close process is consistent, reliable, and accomplished in under six business days.</li> <li>WorkBoard is fully audit-ready, with clean financials, documented policies, and strong internal controls.</li> <li>The accounting team is leveraging updated systems (ERP, billing, equity) with automated workflows where possible.</li> <li>Financial reporting is transparent and trusted by leadership, investors, auditors, and cross-functional partners.</li> <li>GAAP compliance issues are proactively managed; technical standards (e.g. revenue recognition, leases, stock comp) are clearly applied and consistently understood.</li> <li>International accounting challenges (currency, entity &amp; financial consolidations, statutory compliance) are addressed or planned for.</li> <li>The equity ledger / cap table reconciliations are accurate and scalable. </li> </ul>   Who You Are  <ul> <li>Experienced as a Controller, or potentially someone who is an “up &amp; comer” currently in #2 accounting role but capable of stepping up and owning the Controller job</li> <li>Strong audit background and CPA certification.
