We work on creating the map using a combination of automatic and manual techniques and build the infrastructure to store, process, and distribute the map. Our team collaborates with several other Waymo teams that consume map data.</p> <p><strong>In this role, you will:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Lead a team of software engineers to help us scale our mapping infrastructure and to transform the mapping schema</li> <li>Evaluate and launch machine learning models that automatically generate map from raw data</li> <li>Work with onboard teams to evolve Waymo’s mapping format to make it more automation friendly</li> <li>Build backend infrastructure for storing and processing many forms of map data</li> <li>Scale our systems to support mapping the whole world</li> </ul> <p><strong>You have:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experienced manager and technical leader</li> <li>&gt; 7 years of total experience, &gt; 2 years experience as a manager</li> <li>Proven track record of leading a team to solve difficult technical challenges</li> <li>Experience with large-scale data processing using frameworks like Google Data Flow or Apache Beam</li> <li>Willingness to own problems end-to-end and work on various parts of the system</li> <li>A passion for good software engineering</li> </ul> <p><strong>Its a Bonus if you have:</strong></p> <ul> <li>M.S. or Ph.D in Computer Science or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience</li> <li>Experience in Mapping and Localization</li> <li>Experience with Tensorflow and/or C++</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p>#Li-Hybrid</p> <div> <div> <div> <p>The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below.
