We work on creating the map using a combination of automatic and manual techniques and build the infrastructure to store, process, and distribute the map. Our team collaborates with several other Waymo teams that consume map data.</p> <p><strong>In this role, you will:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Apply SLAM expertise to automate and streamline the 3D map building process in preparation for the next phase of Waymo’s rapid expansion</li> <li>Help develop a long-term strategy for the evolution of Waymo’s 3D map as a key component to scaling Mapping capabilities</li> <li>Make high-impact contributions across Waymo’s Mapping stack including algorithm advances, infrastructure development, and tooling improvements</li> </ul> <p><strong>You have:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience in SLAM, Localization, or a related robotics field</li> <li>Backend engineer with experience building server-side infrastructure and data processing</li> <li>Solid coding skills (C++ preferred)</li> <li>&gt; 7 years of total experience</li> <li>Strong sense of ownership and ability to thrive in ambiguity</li> <li>Proven track record of being able to apply a broad range of skills to effectively solve business problems</li> <li>Master’s in Computer Science, Robotics or related field</li> </ul> <p><strong>Its a Bonus if you have:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience in the AV industry</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p>#Li-Hybrid</p> <div> <div> <div> <p>The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below.
