We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to act as Technical Lead of Perception Evaluation Triage. Join us to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of transportation by directly impacting the quality and reliability of Waymos autonomous vehicles.</p> <p>In this hybrid role, you will report to a Staff Technical Lead Manager.</p> <p><strong>You will:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Lead the Technical Design of E2E Perception Eval Triage User Experience: Youll be responsible for designing the complete user experience for triage, taking a technical perspective. This includes identifying pain points, defining requirements, and creating a seamless workflow for users, from the initial evaluation to the final triage results. This involves collaborating with UX designers and engineers.</li> <li>Develop and Execute the Perception Eval Triage Roadmap: Youll create a strategic roadmap for the evolution of Perception Eval triage. This roadmap should outline milestones, prioritize features, and align with the broader goals of the Perception Eval team, considering resource constraints and dependencies.</li> <li>Fund and Guide Engineering Efforts: Youll be responsible for allocating and coordinating engineering resources within the eval team to implement the roadmap. This involves mentoring engineers, providing technical guidance, and ensuring that projects are executed effectively, on time, and within budget.</li> <li>Drive Cross-Functional Collaboration: Youll need to work extensively with various teams, including triage tooling teams, ML infra, Waymo Infrastructure teams, and other Perception teams. This includes coordinating resources, resolving conflicts, and ensuring seamless integration of new features and workflows across different systems.</li> <li>Explore and Implement GenAI Solutions: Youll research and implement GenAI solutions to enhance and speed up the engineering work in eval triage. This involves building AI agents to automate tasks, surface problems faster and more accurately, and reduce engineering time.</li> <li>Ensure Milestone Delivery and Progress Tracking: Youll be responsible to coordinate the work to make sure that the roadmap milestones are delivered, and track the progress of the projects, identifying and mitigating risks.</li> </ul> <p><strong>You have:</strong></p> <ul> <li>8+ years of experience designing and building complex, scalable systems</li> <li>Experience leading work groups, developing roadmaps, and driving project execution</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to work effectively across diverse teams and communicate technical concepts clearly</li> <li>Ability to own projects, drive them to successful deliverables with end-to-end impact, and thrive in complex environments</li> <li>Familiarity with AV or Perception/Computer Vision systems, including their data, and evaluation processes</li> <li>Familiarity with ML Infrastructure: Experience with ML model training &amp; eval, data mining at scale</li> <li>Hands-on experience with ML concepts and application of AI to solve real-world problems</li> </ul> <p><strong>We prefer:</strong></p> <div> <ul> <li>Hands-on experience with data analysis and triage tools &amp; workflows, and the ability to identify areas for improvement</li> <li>Experience with designing and implementing data processing workflows, and performing statistical analysis on large datasets</li> <li>Experience in developing GenAI solutions or building AI agents for specific problems</li> </ul> </div><div><div><div><p><span>The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below.
