We are looking for experienced data-minded software engineers to help us understand and improve the reliability of Waymos robotics systems so we can further improve Waymos safety-first mission. If you are excited about using the large value of rich data to improve the reliability of our software, this is the role for you!</p> <p> </p> <p>In this hybrid role, you will report to an Engineering Manager.</p> <p> </p> <p>You will:</p> <ul> <li>Develop signals that are precursors to severe reliability issues</li> <li>Root cause subtle bugs and help fill gaps between on-road and Simulation issue discovery</li> <li>Extend our reliability discovery pipelines to cover new use cases</li> <li>Collaborate with engineers in the Simulator, Planner, and Perception teams to solve complex cross-functional problems</li> <li>Use ADV hardware to find pernicious and bedeviling bugs</li> <li>Drive improvements to issue-discovery-to-fix processes</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p>You have:</p> <ul> <li>BS in Computer Science, Robotics, Statistics, Physics, Math or another quantitative area</li> <li>Ability to navigate complex systems and pursue open-ended problems to completion</li> <li>3+ years of industry experience with: <ul> <li>Building data processing pipelines</li> <li>C++</li> <li>Python for modeling and/or statistical computing</li> </ul> </li> </ul> <p> </p> <p>We prefer:</p> <ul> <li>Experience building and/or supporting modern microservice architectures (Kubernetes, AWS: EKS, ECS, ECR, RDS, S3, ALB, SNS, etc, GCP: GKE, Artifact Registry, Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, GCS, ALB, Pub/Sub, etc.)</li> <li>Experience building and distributed data processing pipelines (Spark, Beam, Airflow, etc.) and using SQL with large-scale warehouses (Snowflake, RedShift, BigQuery, etc.)</li> <li>Exposure to ad-hoc data analysis tools for rapid modeling and prototyping</li> <li>Excitement about detailed detective work in service of finding subtle errors</li> </ul> <p>#LI-Hybrid</p><div><div><div><p><span>The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
