<h2>Position Summary...</h2><h2>What youll do...</h2>We are seeking a talented and passionate Staff, Software Engineer (Back End), you will be part of Catalog Engineering team and will be responsible for developing high performance and scalable Catalog Service that meet the needs of millions of Walmart customers. Design and develop integrations with next generation downstream application that is built largely on an event driven platform implemented via a micro-service architecture. Our tech stack includes Java for backend services, providing an exciting opportunity for growth and collaboration.  Our Catalog Engineering team has built a highly scalable Catalog Service. You will work on NextGen upstream integration, catalog migration to a new platform, and develop highly scalable catalog micro services. You’ll independently handle high impact, critical software/systems monitoring issues, troubleshoot business and production issues. As a member of this fast-moving and highly entrepreneurial team, you’ll be able to say that you work for the world’s largest retailer and contribute to innovation and development to best-in-class methodologies that impacted perception and drastically changed business as we know it.  *Immigration Sponsorship support will NOT be available for this position* What youll do:<ul><li>Design &amp; develop highly scalable services and solve complex software systems problems by leveraging state-of-the-art technology and enhancing Walmart Catalog and Partner experience solutions</li><li>Lead by example. Show your chops as an exceptional and experienced developer.</li><li>Troubleshoot business and production issues by gathering information and engaging support teams to resolve issues</li><li>Perform root cause analysis to prevent future occurrence of issues and ensure compliance with Walmart code of conduct</li><li>Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members to ensure compliance with Walmart code of conduct</li><li>Work in an Agile environment, adhering to best practices and collaborating with teams to deliver results</li><li>Stay up to date with the latest GenAI trends and technologies and contribute to the development of innovative solutions that improve the Seller and supplier experience on our Catalog platform.</li><li>Participate in medium- to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects by reviewing project, product and business requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; gathering requested information (for example, design documents, product requirement); designing robust and scalable architectures; writing and developing code; conducting unit testing; communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders; collaborating with cross functional teams; troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes; enhancing design to prevent re-occurrences of defects; ensuring on-time delivery</li></ul> What youll bring:<ul><li>Experience with Java and building Java-based backend systems.</li><li>Building and implementing microservices and applications using Spring Boot and reactive frameworks like Spring WebFlux and Project Reactor (Mono and Flux)</li><li>Experience in internet-scale distributed technologies (e.g. Solr, Kafka, Mem Cache, etc.) </li><li>Deep understanding of Spark engine</li><li>Strong understanding of J2EE components, multithreading, and networking.</li><li>Extensive knowledge of offline storage, caching, and performance tuning.</li><li>Experience with cloud-based solutions and hands-on experience with CICD development environments/tools, including Git, Maven, and Jenkins.</li><li>Strong understanding of CS Fundamentals, Microservices, Data Structures, Algorithms, and Problem Solving.</li><li>Familiarity with GenAI best practices, such as:<ul><li>Using AI-powered code analysis tools to improve code quality and maintainability.</li><li>Implementing AI-driven testing frameworks to ensure robust testing and validation.</li><li>Leveraging AI-based performance monitoring and optimization tools to improve system efficiency.</li><li>Designing AI-enabled data pipelines to streamline data processing and analysis.</li></ul></li><li>Experience with NoSQL Databases like Cosmos DB, Cassandra and ability to design and implement scalable data models.</li><li>Strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud-native development, and microservices architecture.</li><li>Experience with containerization using Docker and orchestration using Kubernetes.</li><li>Strong understanding of DevOps practices, including continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous monitoring.</li></ul>The above information has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed in the role.
