Join us today and experience Life at Visa.</p><h3>Job Description</h3><p>Visa Technology &amp; Operations LLC, a Visa Inc. company, needs a Database Engineer – Sr. Consultant level (multiple openings) in Austin, TX to</p><ul><li>Responsible for providing architecture guidance and technical expertise for the various platform components like database and middleware products in public cloud environments.</li><li>Collaborate with diverse teams such as Infrastructure, Platform, Cyber Security, and Product Development, among others, to establish public and hybrid cloud solutions.</li><li>Develop and maintain cloud architecture frameworks, including cloudnative solutions for the organization.</li><li>Design and implement cloud-based infrastructure solutions and platform components using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.</li><li>Design and provide guidance on database and middleware solutions, including selecting appropriate database and middleware technologies.</li><li>Evaluate and recommend whether to use managed services or build your own, taking into account factors such as cost, availability, scalability, and security.</li><li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop and implement cloud-based solutions to meet the organization’s business requirements.</li><li>Use cloud-native mindset to create greenfield solutions based on business goals, objectives, and requirements, while understanding integration with legacy solutions.</li><li>Define and document standard designs and processes and maintain documentation across all updates or changes.</li><li>Stay up to date with latest cloud technologies and best practices and suggest improvements to organization’s cloud deployment.</li><li>Position reports to the Austin, TX office and may allow for partial telecommuting.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><p>Basic Qualifications:</p><ul><li>Employer will accept a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology or related field followed by 8 years of progressive, postbaccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a related Database Engineer or Systems/Software Engineer occupation.</li><li>Alternatively, employer will accept a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology or related field and 5 years of experience in the job offered or in a related Database Engineer or Systems/Software Engineer occupation.</li><li>Position requires experience in the following skills:</li><li>Cloud platforms, such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Azure, or AWS;</li><li>Developing and maintaining cloud architecture frameworks, including cloud-native solutions;</li><li>Designing and implementing cloud-based infrastructure solutions and platform components using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, like Terraform or CloudFormation;</li><li>Database technologies, including traditional RDBMS (Oracle and MySQL and PostgreSQL), NoSQL (MongoDB and DynamoDB), and AWSs cloud-native solutions (RDS, Aurora and DocumentDB);</li><li>Implementing continuous availability architecture to provide uninterrupted service;</li><li>DevOps practices and tools;</li><li>Database design and architecture, performance optimization &amp; monitoring, migration &amp; modernization, and data security &amp; disaster recovery;</li><li>Database management and migration across on-premises and cloud environments;</li><li>Ensuring high availability, scalability, and robust data protection for enterprise-grade database systems;</li><li>Leading successful migrations from on-premises to cloud platforms, minimizing downtime and preserving data integrity;</li><li>Scripting languages like Shell and Python;</li><li>Database technologies in a containerized environment, utilizing container orchestration tools, such as Kubernetes or similar platform; and</li><li>Methodologies and techniques for large-scale application transition to the cloud.</li></ul><h3>Additional Information</h3><p><u><strong>Worksite:</strong></u> Austin, TX</p><p>This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs. </p><p><u><strong>Travel Requirements:</strong></u> Domestic travel required 5-10% of the time.</p><p><strong><u>Mental/Physical Requirements:</u> </strong>This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers. </p><p>Visa is an EEO Employer.
