WHAT YOU’LL DO
As a Staff Cloud Reliability Engineer at Viant, you will play a pivotal role in architecting, implementing, and optimizing our cloud infrastructure. Leveraging your extensive experience, youll lead initiatives to enhance system reliability, scalability, and performance across our multi-cloud environments. Your contributions will be instrumental in driving our platforms evolution and ensuring seamless integration with our development and operations teams.
THE DAY-TO-DAY
- Architect & Lead: Design and oversee the implementation of robust, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure solutions across AWS and GCP platforms.
- Automation & Tooling: Develop and maintain advanced automation tools for deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure management, promoting a culture of DevOps and continuous improvement.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with software engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to align infrastructure strategies with business objectives.
- Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the team.
- Performance Optimization: Analyze system performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Incident Management: Lead incident response efforts, conduct root cause analyses, and implement preventive measures to mitigate future risks.
- Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact and applicability to Viants infrastructure.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years in cloud reliability, DevOps, or SRE roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior engineering position.
- Cloud Expertise: Proficient in managing and optimizing services within AWS and GCP environments.
- Infrastructure as Code: Extensive experience with Terraform, including module development and orchestration.
- Containerization: Deep understanding of Docker and Kubernetes, including deployment and management of containerized applications.
- Scripting & Programming: Strong skills in languages such as Python or Go, with the ability to develop complex automation scripts and tools.
- CI/CD Pipelines: Proven experience in designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar.
- Monitoring & Logging: Expertise in setting up and managing observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or equivalent.
- Database Knowledge: Familiarity with SQL and experience working with data warehouses like Google BigQuery.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership abilities, with a proactive and collaborative mindset.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD), or equivalent.
- Multi-Cloud Optimization: Familiarity with managing cost, performance, and compliance across multi-cloud environments.
- Community Engagement: Contributions to open source projects or active participation in DevOps/cloud-native communities.
