THE OPPORTUNITY <div> Unknown Worlds is looking for an experienced Senior Level Designer to join the team working on Subnautica 2. In this role you will design memorable locations that blend exploration, challenge and wonder. Working closely with environment artists and game designers, you will collaborate to create a rich and believable underwater world. This is a remote position on a globally distributed team.</div> <div><hr /></div> RESPONSIBILITIES <ul> <li>Collaborate with game designers and environment artists to build a diverse range of locations within the game</li> <li>Define the vision and player experience for dedicated locations, combining your ideas with gameplay systems, art and narrative to create memorable spaces</li> <li>Prototype and iterate on layouts, traversal challenges, puzzles and environmental interactions to bring that vision to life</li> <li>Collaborate with the world design lead to refine tools, workflows and pipelines for open world creation</li> <li>Mentor and provide feedback to other level designers, helping raise the quality bar across the team</li> <li>Share progress regularly, give and receive feedback, and iterate based on playtesting and team input</li> </ul> QUALIFICATIONS <ul> <li>5+ years experience as a Level Designer or World Designer on open world, survival or sandbox games, having shipped at least one shipped title in the role</li> <li>Expertise in Unreal Engine (UE4 or UE5) including landscape sculpting, prop placement and foliage workflows</li> <li>Strong understanding of level design principles such as flow, pacing, player guidance and environmental storytelling</li> <li>Ability to work effectively demonstrating excellent communications skills in a collaborative, cross-disciplinary environment</li> <li>Self-motivated, organised and comfortable working remotely</li> </ul> PREFERENCES <ul> <li>Experience with UE5 specific workflows and Blueprint scripting</li> <li>Familiarity with modular or procedural content creation</li> <li>Familiarity with Multiplayer Co-op games</li> <li>Basic 3D asset creation knowledge</li> </ul> <hr /> Reasonable Accommodation KRAFTON Americas is committed to the full inclusion of all qualified individuals.
