Job Title: Senior Software Engineer Department: Product Development  About the Role:  The Senior Software Engineer will play a critical role in designing and delivering scalable solutions that streamline case coordination and referral workflows. They will work closely with product, design, and cross-functional engineering teams to build high-impact features that drive meaningful outcomes for the communities we serve. The ideal candidate will have experience building robust APIs, maintaining high standards for code quality, and mentoring teammates while contributing to a mission-driven organization.   What Youll Do: <ul> <li>Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to design, build, and enhance our products’ features.</li> <li>Write clean, maintainable, and testable code that scales with user needs and system growth.</li> <li>Take ownership of end-to-end software development cycles — from architecture and implementation to deployment and monitoring.</li> <li>Help evolve and maintain our platform architecture to support a growing number of referral partners and use cases.</li> <li>Provide technical mentorship and guidance to team members through code reviews and architectural discussions.</li> <li>Troubleshoot and resolve performance, reliability, and scalability challenges across backend services.</li> <li>Actively participate in sprint planning, retrospectives, and roadmap discussions to help shape the direction of the team’s work.</li> <li>Drive best practices in testing, CI/CD, observability, and agile development.</li> </ul> You’re a great fit for this role if: <ul> <li>At least 3+ years of software development experience, with strong preference for experience in healthcare.</li> <li>Expertise in building and scaling backend services in a production environment or expertise in single page frontend applications.</li> <li>Proficiency with Ruby on Rails, GoLang, and/or other modern programming languages.</li> <li>Experience designing and/or consuming RESTful APIs</li> <li>Proficiency in relational databases such as Postgres.</li> <li>Experience working in a cloud environment (preferably AWS) with containerized applications (e.g., Docker, ECS, Fargate).</li> <li>Strong understanding of testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring best practices.</li> <li>Experience working in cross-functional agile teams, with a product-focused and customer-centric mindset.</li> <li>Deep understanding of healthcare claims lifecycle (EDI 837/835, adjudication, coordination of benefits)</li> <li>Experience integrating with payer and provider systems (FHIR, HL7, X12)</li> <li>Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and PHI data handling</li> <li>Familiarity with claim edits, business rules engines, and validation logic</li> </ul> Our Mission: Unite Us’ mission is to unlock the potential of every community. Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions: <ul> <li>This position is remote, U.S. based. </li> <li>This position may require 5% travel</li> <li>The target pay range for this role is: $140,000 - $175,000. This salary range represents our target hiring range for this role.
