And winning as an Underdog is just more fun.</p> <p>Join us.</p></div><p>We’re looking for a Director of Business Analytics (Finance &amp; Ops) to lead a high-performing team of analysts that partners across Finance, Operations, and Risk &amp; Trading to deliver insights that drive decision-making and business impact.</p> <p>The ideal candidate is a hands-on analytics leader who thrives on building teams, partnering with business leaders, and delivering both quick wins and scalable systems. You’ll be responsible for strengthening our analytics foundations by establishing a single source of truth for critical financial and operational metrics, and by building the processes and self-serve tools that enable leaders across the business to make faster, more confident decisions.</p> <h3>About the role</h3> <p><strong>Lead &amp; Develop the Team</strong></p> <ul> <li>Manage, coach, and grow a team of analysts supporting Finance, Ops, and Risk &amp; Trading.</li> <li>Create clear roles, accountability structures, and career paths that elevate analysts into true thought partners.</li> <li>Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and high standards for analytical quality.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Partner with Business Functions</strong></p> <ul> <li>Build strong relationships with leaders across business functions; understand their decision cycles and translate business needs into an actionable analytics roadmap.</li> <li>Establish steering cadences and a decision calendar that align analytics delivery with key business milestones.</li> <li>Influence stakeholders with clear, actionable insights that drive decisions.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Build Scalable Analytics Foundations</strong></p> <ul> <li>Define and enforce golden metrics with unambiguous definitions, ensuring consistency across functions.</li> <li>Operationalize metrics through dbt data models, semantic layers, and BI tools, so reporting and ad-hoc analysis always pull from the same source of truth.</li> <li>Establish durable intake, triage, and delivery workflows to balance quick-turn needs with strategic work.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Enable Self-Serve &amp; Next-Gen Analytics</strong></p> <ul> <li>Deliver self-serve dashboards and curated datasets that empower stakeholders to answer their own questions quickly.</li> <li>Prototype and launch AI-powered self-serve capabilities (e.g., Slack chatbot or BI integration) that enable natural-language queries against the semantic layer.</li> <li>Continuously reduce reliance on ad-hoc requests by making trusted data and insights accessible at scale.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Deliver Impactful Insights</strong></p> <ul> <li>Provide timely analyses and reporting that influence financial planning, operational efficiency, and trading risk management.</li> <li>Drive measurable improvements in areas such as forecast accuracy, payment approval rates, customer support efficiency, and exposure/risk monitoring.</li> <li>Retire legacy reports and streamline reporting processes, freeing the team to focus on high-leverage analytics.</li> </ul> <h3>Who you are</h3> <ul> <li><strong>Experienced Leader:</strong> 10+ years in analytics or related fields, with 4+ years managing teams; proven ability to grow, attract, and mentor talent.</li> <li><strong>Strategic Partner:</strong> Skilled at influencing stakeholders, balancing competing priorities, and aligning analytics with business outcomes.</li> <li><strong>Operational Builder:</strong> Track record of establishing effective processes, roadmaps, and prioritization frameworks that scale.</li> <li><strong>Metric Governor:</strong> Experienced in defining, operationalizing, and enforcing company-wide metrics via modern data tools (dbt, semantic layers, BI).</li> <li><strong>Technical:</strong> Strong SQL required; experience with dbt and modern BI tools (Looker, Sigma, Tableau). </li> <li><strong>Future-Oriented:</strong> Excited about enabling self-serve analytics through AI and other next-generation tools.</li> </ul> <h3>Even better if you have</h3> <ul> <li>Experience in high-growth consumer tech, fintech, or gaming industries.</li> <li>Background in corporate finance, accounting, or risk management.</li> <li>Exposure to operational domains such as fraud detection, payments, regulatory compliance, or customer support.</li> <li>History of scaling analytics organizations in fast-paced environments.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><em>Our target starting base salary range for this position is between $210,000 and $230,000, plus target equity.
