And winning as an Underdog is just more fun.</p> <p>Join us.</p></div><h3><strong>About the role and why it’s unique:</strong></h3> <ul> <li><strong>Build the backbone of Underdog’s data ecosystem</strong>—design and deploy internal APIs and workflows that power seamless communication across our services.</li> <li><strong>Create robust, scalable microservices</strong> to serve real-time, high-volume data needs for our internal teams, enabling faster decision-making and better fan experiences.</li> <li><strong>Own greenfield projects</strong> that shape the future of our business—architecting backend systems built for scale, resilience, and speed.</li> <li><strong>Partner cross-functionally</strong> with engineers, product owners, and data scientists to turn complex challenges into elegant, scalable solutions.</li> <li><strong>Safeguard system reliability</strong> by building smart monitoring, alerting, and logging tools that keep our infrastructure healthy and performant.</li> <li><strong>Drive impactful technical initiatives</strong> from start to finish in a fast-moving, high-stakes environment where your leadership makes a real difference.</li> <li><strong>Champion engineering excellence</strong> by leading code reviews, sharing best practices, and helping level up the team through mentorship and feedback.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Who you are:</strong></h3> <ul> <li>A Backend Engineer with at least 3 years of experience building microservices heavy backend systems and APIs for internal applications on a cloud environment (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure)</li> <li>Advanced proficiency with Go</li> <li>Experience building and scaling backend systems and designing enterprise scale APIs for external and internal applications</li> <li>Highly focused on delivering results for internal and external stakeholders in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment</li> <li>Excellent communication skills with ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders</li> <li>Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or ECS</li> <li>Experience with DevOps practices such as CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g. Terraform, CDK)</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Even better if you have:</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Strong interest in sports</li> <li>Prior experience in the sports betting industry</li> </ul> <p><em><br />Our target starting base salary range for this position is between $135,000 and $150,000 plus target equity.
