Job Description


Turner & Townsend are looking for a Cost Estimator to join our team and support a national office space construction portfolio including remodels and fit-outs for both new and existing spaces.

This role is client-facing and requires a professional with a strong estimating background, particularly in office spaces. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, and be driven and promote our Turner & Townsend purpose and values. 


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate and detailed conceptual, schematic, and design development (DD) estimates for office space remodels and fit-outs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Develop cost plans and estimates throughout initial design phases with limited information to provide fully-baked cost options (including GC, Furniture/Fixtures/Equipment, Professional fees, and other cost buckets) to the client.
  • Experience in estimating and understanding cost drivers across geographical regions in the United States.
  • Review proposed design changes and prepare estimates within appropriate levels of accuracy.
  • Oversee and manage project budgets, ensuring cost control and value engineering throughout the project lifecycle. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates and addressing any concerns or queries. 
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to ensure alignment on project scope, budget, and timelines. 
  • Generate detailed cost reports and forecasts, presenting findings to clients and internal stakeholders. 
  • Stay updated on market trends and pricing to provide accurate cost estimates and recommendations on cost risks & cost savings. 
  • Carry out the production of monthly cost reports for presentation to the client.
  • Reviewing general contractor/subcontractor pricing and lead negotiations on behalf of the client to drive fair contract prices.
  • Negotiate change orders with general contractors/subcontractors.
  • Create and maintain unit rates for each construction assembly and support in continuous updates based on completed projects or quotes received.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable. 


 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering or field related to construction. 
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction cost management and/or estimating experience, with a focus on office spaces. 
  • Program level cost management and construction consultancy experience is strongly preferred. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships. 
  • Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, such as schedule duration input, value management and value engineering.  
  • Experience in the commercial sector, including tenant improvements (TI) and build-outs of office spaces. Financial Services experience is a plus.
  • Expertise in using industry standard cost estimating software and tools.

Additional Information


The salary range for this full-time role is $100K-$120K per year. Ranges are determined by role and level and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range is a reflection of base salary only, not of a total compensation package. Please note Turner & Townsend reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on candidate’s experience and qualifications.
