Candidates located near Seattle, WA, Detroit, MI or New York, NY may work from our offices there whenever they choose to.</p> <p><strong>Reports To:</strong> Engineering Manager</p> <p><strong>Type:</strong>  Full-Time; Remote</p> <h3><strong>We’re Looking For Someone Who:</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Has empathy for homebuyers and enjoys building technology that improves their journey from discovery to closing.</li> <li>Brings their own unique background and experiences to the team, adding fresh ideas and perspectives.</li> <li>Thrives in a startup environment with ambiguity and enjoys collaborating to figure out the best path forward.</li> <li>Is a team-first engineer who jumps in to fight fires, provides constructive feedback, and always thinks about both the customer and Tomo as a whole.</li> <li>Learns continuously and stays current with new trends and technologies, especially in backend engineering and AI.</li> <li>Has experience leveraging LLMs in software engineering and is excited to push our capabilities further.</li> <li>Works independently and makes sound decisions without requiring heavy oversight.</li> <li>Enjoys working with a geographically distributed team (US)</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Youll be:</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Designing, building, and maintaining scalable Python microservices that power Tomo’s platform.</li> <li>Owning backend architecture decisions and contributing to API design and integration patterns across services.</li> <li>Deploying, monitoring, and supporting systems in production as part of an on-call rotation.</li> <li>Driving healthy engineering practices, including code review, iterative delivery, automated testing, and continuous deployment.</li> <li>Collaborating closely with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers to deliver seamless customer experiences.</li> <li>Leveraging AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes, and modern DevOps tooling to ensure reliability and performance.</li> <li>Support deployed systems in production as part of an on-call rotation.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Youll need:</strong></h3> <ul> <li>A history (5+ years) of experience delivering meaningful software projects to production—from conception through design, implementation, deployment, and iteration.</li> <li>Experience with delivering high-quality customer experiences on large consumer-facing websites, including a deep understanding of front-end technology stacks and how to use them to produce performant, satisfying, well-crafted user experiences.</li> <li>Understanding of modern software engineering practices, including logging, monitoring, continuous deployment, and automated testing</li> <li>Proficiency with Python and experience building backend systems using microservice architectures.</li> <li>Solid understanding of AWS services, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).</li> <li>Experience using AI-powered developer tools is a must.
