As we get ready to make these new products available to all our customers we are looking to hire a Staff Software Engineer to super charge our team and help us scale our products. About this roll* (Responsibilities) We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to provide technical leadership for our Ads &amp; Insights products. In this role, you’ll mentor engineers, establish best practices, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable systems. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with a collaborative mindset, helping the team grow while building reliable products from the ground up. <ul> <li>Join a team of Design, Product, QA, and other engineering members in developing robust and scalable full-stack software applications.</li> <li>Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software solutions using Java/Kotlin, adhering to best practices and coding standards.</li> <li>Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical leadership and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.</li> <li>Leverage cutting edge AI tools to enhance your development workflow, improve velocity, and help pioneer new approaches to building - contributing to a culture of innovation and productivity across the team</li> <li>Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and technical meetings to ensure the quality and reliability of the software.</li> </ul> Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements) <ul> <li>​​Proven track record of technical leadership and collaboration on complex projects</li> <li>Significant professional experience (typically 8+ years) in Java, Kotlin, or other object-oriented languages</li> <li>Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and data structures.</li> <li>Proficiency in modern software development tools and practices, including version control systems (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines, and agile methodologies.</li> <li>Effective communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders</li> <li>Proficient with modern web standards and technologies (e.g. REST, GraphQL)</li> <li>A bias towards action, with the ability to balance between getting things done and making things perfect</li> <li>Ability to work core EST working hours.</li> </ul> Special Sauce* (Nice to Haves) <ul> <li>Experience in an early stage technology startup</li> <li>Experience building products from scratch is a huge plus!</li> <li>Experience building 3rd party integrations</li> <li>Experience in Ads Tech (working with Google Ads APIs, Meta APIs and/or TikTok APIs) is string plus</li> </ul>   AI at Toast At Toast, one of our company values is that were hungry to build and learn. The starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience.
