Consumer Goods Senior Editor
Buy Side from WSJ is seeking an experienced editor with a keen eye for quality to edit and write shopping coverage for a consumer audience. This editor will play a key role in our operation to help readers make smart shopping decisions, from picking out the perfect gift for your mother-in-law to finding the best cashmere sweater.
The candidate must have experience editing articles on consumer goods topics, have strong knowledge of product guides and service content.
The candidate should be adept at suggesting edits, wording and sourcing to improve articles.
The ideal candidate will have a news reporting background and be familiar with journalism best practices and SEO best practices.

About the Role:
This editor will ensure that articles meet high quality standards of journalism while responsibly guiding readers. Topics this editor will vet include: shopping, travel, style, home & decor, food & drink, technology and wellness.
You Will:
Ability to edit multiple stories per day.
Be meticulous in examining copy, making sure it is independent and unbiased.
Ensure that sources/sourcing are appropriate for the topic.
Collaborate with partners and internal teams to set content lineups.
Have an understanding of the WSJ.com audience to ensure articles are a fit for the brand environment.
Work proactively with partners in the spirit of helping teammates provide useful service to readers.
Recommend linking opportunities to recent WSJ news articles where topics align.
Ensure accuracy and journalistic standards for all content.
You Have:
8+ years of consumer goods reporting/editing experience.
Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor editorial teams, fostering a collaborative environment.
A track record of detail-oriented editing.
Experience working for a commerce brand preferred.
Experience using SEO insights to identify new content areas and to improve the performance of articles.
Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, while delivering quality content.
Ease and speed in identifying problems in copy and clearly communicating changes needed, suggesting specific edits and wording.
Familiarity with affiliate revenue operations and search engine optimization is preferred.
Ideal candidates will have experience working on staff in a news environment.
NYC-area to attend in-person weekly meetings preferred, though qualified remote candidates will be considered.
