Job Description:
About Our Organization:

Dow Jones has produced unrivaled quality content for more than 130 years and today has one of the worlds largest news-gathering operations globally. It is home to leading publications and products including the flagship Wall Street Journal, Americas largest newspaper by paid circulation; Barrons, MarketWatch, Mansion Global, Financial News, Investors Business Daily, Factiva, Dow Jones Risk & Compliance, Dow Jones Newswires, OPIS and Chemical Market Analytics. Dow Jones is a division of News Corp (Nasdaq: NWS, NWSA; ASX: NWS, NWSLV).
About the Team:
Since 1921, Barrons has delivered the need-to-know information for all those seeking to accumulate wealth, and provided a robust understanding of what propels the markets and business community. At the forefront, Barrons is a catalyst for economic change with a powerful network of influential business leaders, financial advisors, institutional and affluent individual investors among its audience. Readers look to the publication for daily unparalleled financial information and expertise to drive results in our world and the markets.
Barron’s is seeking an investing writer and online personality who doesn’t just follow the markets—they live to understand and write about them, and they know how to bring audiences along.
About the Role:
This journalist should be not only steeped in investing and stock picking but also deeply engaged with how financial ideas move across platforms, communities, and conversations. You should be eager to lead your own branded product—likely a premium newsletter—where your personality, voice, and analysis create a destination for serious investors. You should also be fluent in social media dynamics and excited to experiment with tone, timing, and formats that drive interaction, whether on the Barron’s site or other user-centric platforms. This isn’t just about reporting the news or picking stocks; it’s about building a dynamic presence, growing a following, and turning smart, timely insights into something readers want to come back to—and talk about—every day.
Candidates should be comfortable experimenting with formats, launching new products, and fostering engagement by spotlighting sentiment, inviting direct reader interaction, and delivering the kind of sharp, actionable analysis that makes Barron’s essential reading. Your coverage will connect macro and sector-level news with specific stock-focused insights and investing trends that help readers understand what’s happening—and what it means for their portfolios.
You’ll work closely with Barron’s stock pickers, strategists, and technical analysts, so collaboration is essential.
You Will:
Assume full responsibility for a weekly email newsletter and on-site community content
Collaborate with colleagues and other departments to perform research, promote reader engagement, brainstorm on ideas and receive feedback
Draw attention to the content across other platforms and media
Write jargon-free, clear financial prose
Closely follow markets to determine which stocks and sectors may be of particular interest based on news, and should be flagged for readers
Work well under pressure and with other members of the team
Be responsive to the community in a timely fashion
Actively seek new ways to engage the community
You Have:
A track record of spearheading a unique, engaging newsletter
Deep understanding of financial markets and news that impacts investors
Preferably three to five years of experience writing on investing and subscription platforms
Facility with SEO and audience strategies
