<h2>Job Description:</h2>The Wall Street Journal is seeking a dynamic, energetic general assignment audio and video producer to work across our slate of podcasts and video podcasts. This isn’t just about sound—it’s also about bringing important business, finance and economics topics to life through compelling, visually rich content.You’ll work with top-tier reporters and industry professionals to break news and break down complex stories for listeners and viewers. We need someone who can not only pitch and produce world-class audio, but also help us redefine what video podcasts can be.The ideal candidate has a strong background in video journalism, podcast production, digital storytelling and development. You’re also the type of person who will network across our newsroom to be on the cutting edge of what our reporters and editors are working on. You’ll immerse yourself in the news and flex your wide range of production and editorial skills to make our shows a must-listen and must-watch.This position supports multiple shows and productions, so the ability to juggle several daily assignments and work with different managers and on a variety of projects simultaneously with a can-do spirit and calm demeanor is essential. One day you might help run a quick-turn episode packed with analysis of the day’s news, and the next you may record an interview with an S&amp;P 500 CEO. Candidates who do not submit cover letters will not be considered.What Youll Do:<ul><li>Work closely with the shows’ hosts, producers and editors as well as coverage chiefs across the WSJ newsroom to initiate and develop original story ideas including special series and interactive and immersive ways to more deeply connect with our audience and external events.</li><li>Play a key role in the production and post-production of the shows: pitching stories, booking and pre-interviewing guests, writing scripts, recording interviews, editing sound and video, and posting to platforms.</li><li>Conduct remote recordings and in-studio interviews and do field work.</li><li>Contribute to the promotion of the shows by creating promos, sizzle reels and social-media assets including videos.</li><li>Interview WSJ reporters and sources, coaching those without audio and video experience.</li><li>Manage multiple projects in various stages of development and production.</li><li>Ensure that all content is accurate, fact-checked and meets the highest production value and that all WSJ journalistic and legal standards are followed.</li><li>Complete additional duties as assigned, including supporting other WSJ podcast productions.</li><li>Fill in as a host and/or contribute to the podcasts on mic. </li></ul>What Youll Bring:<ul><li>At least 3 years of experience in audio and video storytelling for a daily podcast or radio show.</li><li>A professional background in video journalism, podcast production and digital storytelling.</li><li>Deep understanding of and interest in the Journal’s core coverage areas.</li><li>Strong journalistic judgment and deep understanding of current business and markets trends, domestic and international news, pop culture, tech and politics.</li><li>Strong shooting and editing skills.</li><li>Strong editorial skills, including experience in research, fact-checking and sculpting both short- and longform interviews before and after recordings.</li><li>Professional experience writing headlines, captions and scripts for stories under tight time constraints.</li><li>Experience developing and launching new products.</li><li>Professional-level understanding of Adobe Audition, Pro Tools or other DAWs.</li><li>Professional experience using Premiere is a strong plus. </li></ul>Reasonable accommodation: Dow Jones, Making Careers Newsworthy - We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, age, national origin, disability status, genetic information, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
