Browsers are unique in that they are one of the only pieces of software that you share with your parents as well as your kids. With your user-design expertise and passion for a well-crafted Windows application, you’ll guide the UI for Dia — a first-of-its-kind browser with an AI-assistant built using Swift on Windows.<h2>Overall you will...</h2><ul><li>Build for Windows: Lead the UI development of Dia for Windows, ensuring it integrates seamlessly with the platform’s unique features and conventions.</li><li>Shape the Product: Contribute as an early team member to decisions about architecture, user experience, and technical trade-offs, ensuring Dia is a joy to use on Windows.</li><li>Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with Design, Infrastructure, and Data Teams to create a browser experience that feels native to Windows.</li><li>Solve Complex Problems: Tackle challenges like performance optimization, memory management, and compatibility to deliver a fast, reliable, and secure Swift on Windows browser.</li></ul><h2>Within 1 month you will...</h2><ul><li>Get onboarded onto the team and codebase with an onboarding buddy</li><li>Receive a number of onboarding presentation on how we give each other feedback, the phases a startup goes through, our technical strategy, and more</li><li>Get familiar with Chromium, Swift and our development environment across Mac and Windows.</li><li>Have shipped a few bug fixes and features across our codebase</li><li>Have pair programmed with a large portion of the engineering team</li></ul><h2>Within 3 months you will...</h2><ul><li>Have owned building numerous core features of Dia on Windows</li><li>Be a primary point of contact for bugs and product iterations within core parts of our Windows application</li><li>Be involved in product discussions about certain product surface areas within Dia as a whole</li><li>Be involved in weekly engineering discussions about our architecture, how we do code review, code style, and more</li><li>Be regularly posting feedback about using the browser in our #dogfooding channel</li><li>Be contributing to on-call rotations and jumping into incidents to support the team.</li></ul><h2>Within 6 months you will...</h2><ul><li>Be interview trained and interviewing candidates for roles at the Browser Company</li><li>Be leading projects from conception to production launch</li><li>Be mentoring and pair programming with newer engineers to help them get spun up on the codebase</li></ul><h1>Qualifications</h1><ul><li>Deep Windows UI Expertise: You have 4+ years of experience building and shipping high-quality Windows applications, with a strong understanding of the platform’s APIs, frameworks (XAML and WPF, UWP, or WinUI), and best practices.</li><li>Strong Technical Skills: Proficiency in C++ or similar languages, with a focus on UI craft and desktop app experience.</li><li>Attention to Detail: You care about the small things that make a product feel polished, from pixel-perfect UI to smooth animations.</li><li>User-Centric Mindset: You think about how your work impacts the end user and strive to create intuitive, delightful experiences.</li><li>Collaborative Approach: You excited about the idea to share your knowledge of Windows UI design with others and learning from your teammates.</li><li>Timezone: You have at least 4 hours of overlap time with team members located in Eastern Time Zone</li></ul><h1>Compensation and Benefits</h1>💰 With our flexible compensation model, employees have the ability to choose the cash-to-equity ratio that best suits their individual needs. Every offer we extend includes three options: a salary-optimized offer, an equity-optimized offer, and a balanced offer.The annual salary range for this role is $225,000-275,000 USD.
