This is a wide-ranging, generalist role on the Athletic’s Visuals and Data team, with opportunities to help shape projects of all kinds, whether it’s a modest chart, an analytical conclusion, an expansive standalone visualization or a live application. </span></div><div><br /></div><div><span>This is 100% remote for candidates based in the United States or Canada. </span></div><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Use data and analysis to communicate our reporting stronger and more clearly.</li><li>Publish clear, compelling and imaginative data visualizations.</li><li>Help imagine and build interactive projects and applications.</li><li>Consult and advise on our use of statistics and editorial conclusions from data.</li></ul><h3>Requirements</h3><ul><li>Experience working with data and statistics and an understanding of the communication of causality, uncertainty and statistical forecasting.</li><li>Experience conceiving, prototyping and deploying interactive projects of all sizes, from engineering foundations to frontend details.</li><li>A creative approach to the news and sports, with an eye for finding novel angles and data sets in odd places.</li><li>A track record of close collaboration with other journalists and technologists.</li><li>Demonstrated excellence in publishing data visualizations for mass audiences.</li><li>Experience working within design tools like Figma or Adobe Creative Suite.</li><li>This is a remote-based role with candidates willing to work regularly from our New York City office preferred.</li></ul><div><i>The annual base salary range for this role is $110,000.00 - $180,000.00 USD. The total compensation offered for this position may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, and location. It may also include non-cash rewards and benefits.
