As a Lead Product Manager, you will lend your domain and functional expertise to a wide range of business and Product areas that collectively require multidisciplinary skills. You will tackle highly complex issues that require cross-functional strategic, operational, and technical alignment. This is an advanced individual contributor role,  and you will be critical to the success of the Product organization.</div><div><br /></div><div>This role is 100% remote for candidates currently residing in either the United States or Canada. </div><div><br /></div><div><b>Focus of The Role</b></div><div>Your primary focus is to deliver impactful consumer-facing features, experiences and experiments across Web, iOS, and Android platforms that help deepen our readers engagement with The Athletic.</div><div><br /></div><div><i>Key areas of focus include:</i></div><div>- Developing features that showcase the depth of our coverage and drive engagement with our content across articles, newsletters, scores and stats, highlights, podcasts, and more.</div><div>- Creating compelling user experiences that makes users more likely to engage with our content and develop loyalty to the brand over time.</div><div>- Developing a personalization approach so that all types of sports fans can find the experience and content that suits them (e.g. general sports fans should be served equally well to a die hard fan that wants deep reporting on a set number of teams).</div><div><br /></div><div><i>To succeed, you will need to:</i></div><div>- Understand sports fans behaviors, needs, and motivations through both qualitative and quantitative insights.</div><div>- Partner with newsroom leaders to translate editorial strategy into product experiences.</div><div>- Work closely with engineers and designers to deliver high-quality features that drive our key metrics.</div><div>- Balance short-term wins with longer-term strategic initiatives.</div><div>- Make data-driven decisions that improve our audience engagement metrics.</div><div><br /></div><div><b>Responsibilities</b></div><div><i>Own the strategy and roadmap for priority consumer experiences</i></div><div>- Define the strategy for your product area(s) to meet business objectives.</div><div>- Develop and manage a roadmap that balances immediate user needs with longer-term strategic goals in the service of a cohesive experience across all touchpoints in the fan’s journey.</div><div>- Articulate the why behind product strategy to gain and maintain alignment across stakeholders.</div><div><br /></div><div><i>Drive impact</i></div><div>- Champion features that drive our north star metrics.</div><div>- Build and lead cross-functional teams that ship with quality and velocity.</div><div>- Create a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement.</div><div>- Transform user feedback and data insights into product enhancements.</div><div>- Foster a highly collaborative cross-functional environment focused on shared metrics and objectives.</div><div><br /></div><div><i>Improve organizational operations</i></div><div>- Help establish best practices for product development and experimentation.</div><div>- Navigate complex stakeholder environments with diplomacy and clarity of purpose.</div><div>- Invest smartly in platforms that will allow us to experiment at scale - thinking through complex systems and building products that unlock outsize impact on the business.</div><div><br /></div><div><b>Requirements</b></div><div>- 4+ years of highly relevant product management experience at a fast-growing consumer company or demonstrated success in a similar role.</div><div>- Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate business goals into product features.</div><div>- Expertise in consumer digital products.</div><div>- A bias toward action and the ability to rally teams to deliver results - you need to get things done.</div><div>- Excellence with data - analyzing data, deriving insights, and making data-driven decisions.</div><div>- Experience with A/B testing as a tool to rigorously deliver impact.</div><div>- Excellent collaboration skills and ability to influence a team and drive alignment with stakeholders.</div><div>- Empathy for users that translates into intuitive, delightful experiences.</div><div>- Eagerness to try new things and learn - and a willingness to fail.</div><div><i>The annual base salary range for this role is $160,000.00 - $180,000.00 USD. The total compensation offered for this position may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, and location. It may also include non-cash rewards and benefits.
