Join the team at the Berg-Hughes Center and the Department of Geology & Geophysics as the Outreach Engagement Coordinator (Program Coordinator II)! In this pivotal role, youll lead the planning and execution of impactful events, conferences, and workshops that connect students, faculty, and industry professionals. Youll play a key role in fostering meaningful outreach and engagement initiatives, building strong partnerships with industry sponsors to enhance student training and professional development. Additionally, youll provide essential administrative support to ensure smooth operations and help drive the success of our program goals. This is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting impact on the future of geoscience education and collaboration.
Opportunities to Contribute
Coordinate events such as conferences, meetings, workshops, and conference exhibitions for the Berg-Hughes Center
Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
Collaborate with industry sponsors to organize training programs/professional development opportunities for students.
Implement and evaluate programs/development opportunities.
Develop, update, and deliver training materials.
Oversee daily fiscal and purchasing activities and assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets for programs and events.
Monitor expenditures and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
Respond to program inquiries.
Manage program communication.
Prepare reports on program activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Geology and Geophysics AND 4 years of related experience
Ability to travel as needed for conferences or outreach events.
Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving and/or flying on commercial airlines
This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.
Ability to manage event setup and execution, which may involve lifting up to 20 lbs with assistance.
A well-qualified candidate would also possess:
Proficiency in scientific illustration and scientific writing, with preference for geologic writing.
Proficiency with the Smartsheet project management tool
Experience Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Strong interpersonal skills.
Working knowledge of office software and instructional programs
Strong organizational and event management skills.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Salary: Commensurate – Based on selected candidates’ education and experience.
Special Note: This position is funded from grant and/or contract funding, which is renewed through provisions of the grantor of the contract. Therefore, this position is contingent upon continuation of funding from these grants and/or contracts, as well as satisfactory job performance
