The Basics

The IT Operations Engineer is responsible for provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure with a particular focus on support for R&D people, processes and technology. This role participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation across Tanium’s R&D and Engineering infrastructure while ensure hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures are operational, secure, and well maintained.

What youll do

  • Manage the day to day operations of Tanium’s infrastructure
  • Participate in the planning of both short and long-term goals and direction for IT
  • Develop tools for automation of tasks and integration of other central IT services
  • Follows the change management process
  • Document system configuration, installations, and maintenance processes
  • Collaborate with DevOps and Engineering teams to resolve operational challenges and streamline workflows
  • Serve as the primary liaison for engineering transactional matters

We’re looking for someone with

  • Education
    • Bachelors Degree or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience
    • 2-3 years relevant work experience
    • Deep technical knowledge of fundamental infrastructure technologies, such as VMware, Proxmox, Storage Area Networks (SAN), Enterprise backup methodologies, System Automation, Cloud Computing, and common Operating Systems (e.g. Windows, Linux, MacOS)
    • Direct experience working with AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud
    • Experience managing common services, such as DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory
    • Familiar with monitoring and analytics tools, such as Nagios, Splunk, OpManager, and/or DataDog
    • Basic understanding of common network technologies and protocols
    • Problem solving skills required to analyze complex situations and use various commercial / open-source tools to quickly resolve technical challenges
    • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Preferred Experience
    • 3-5 years relevant work experience
    • Highly-competitive candidates will have knowledge of and hands-on experience with the following technologies: 
      • Tanium 
      • Ansible 
      • Python, Windows & Linux shell scripting
      • Github Enterprise, Artifactory, Jenkins, Cloudflare
    • Experience writing scripts in common scripting languages (e.g. Python and Bash and Powershell)

What you’ll get

The annual base salary range for this full-time position is $70,000 to $205,000. This range is an estimate for what Tanium will pay a new hire. The actual annual base salary offered may be adjusted based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, location, education, skills, training, and experience.
