Job Description:

Role Summary/Purpose:

The VP, Product Manager will support and will act as a point of contact for Synchrony’s enterprise efforts to create curated data assets in support of analytic optimization and analytic productivity activities. This role will be responsible for facilitating Program Increment planning by working closely with Product Managers and Business Owners to understand organizational objectives, ensuring that the outcomes of the PI Planning are clear, and that applicable Agile Release Trains (ARTs) are aligned with these goals.

 

The VP, Product Manager will collaborate with Business and IT Leaders, Data Management process owners, and analytics stakeholders across Synchrony to identify, organize and support the modernization of information supporting analytic processes inclusive of curated data sets. The candidate will need to successfully build and manage relationships across many different stakeholders and provide regular status updates on the assigned programs/projects. The role reports into Synchrony’s Enterprise Data Office

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Engage with business stakeholders on a regular basis to understand their Data Analytic needs, both short term and long term

  • Strategize w/ function about data needs, assist with identifying new resources or prioritizing work within the existing Analytics teams

  • Assist in initiating new work through Synchrony’s standard Agile processes

  • Facilitate the tracking and prioritization of data curation work throughout their product lifecycles

  • Ensure that curated data is accessible, useful, and meaningful for the intended applications, such as data analysis, machine learning, or data-driven decision-making

  • Partner with engineering and data stakeholders to assess data models and/or support the creation of proprietary logical data models that are fit for purpose to meet the business goals.

  • Manage vendor relationships, work with GDC’s to execute SOW’s for new engagements, setup Purchase Orders and billing, coordinate contractor staffing (including onboarding and offboarding)

  • Liaison with Data Lake & Data Warehouse engineering teams on build work and resources. Provide input on prioritization of work for the program, coordinating closely with scrum masters and product owners.

  • Track and report status updates on all projects and programs on a regular basis.

  • Anticipate, escalate and resolve program/project related issues, impediments and risks

  • Facilitate discussions w/ other technology teams when there are dependencies on other areas (i.e. Security, Infrastructure, Digital, Credit, etc)

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, OR in lieu of degree, a high school diploma/GED and 9+ years of project/program management experience leading multiple complex projects

  • A minimum of 7+ years of project/program management experience to include:

    • 5+ years of project and/or program management experience to include working on gathering business need requirements, planning and defining business solutions, and working with the application and infrastructure teams to manage the project through the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

    • 3+ years of experience working on data integration, data modeling, data warehousing, big data environments

    • Experience leading large-scale programs, in agile or waterfall methodologies

Desired Characteristics:

  • Broad understanding of banking, credit card, payment solutions, collections, marketing, risk and regulatory & compliance.

  • Experience with Agile/Scaled Agile using tools like JIRA

  • Agile/ Scaled Agile Certification(s)

  • Intermediate to advanced MS Office Suite skills including Power Point, Excel, Access, Visio.

  • Strong relationship management and influencing skills to build enduring and productive alliances across matrix organizations.

  • Demonstrated success in managing multiple deliverables concurrently often within aggressive timeframes; ability to cope under time pressure.

  • Experience in partnering with a diverse team composed of staff and consultants located in multiple locations and time zones.

  • Excellent communication skills and customer management skills

  • Should be able to deliver architectural initiatives in for digital, cloud, open-source technologies.

  • Should have performed a similar role & capacity for large transformational engagements.

Grade/Level: 12

                                                            

The salary range for this position is 135,000.00 - 230,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles.  Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles.  Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post.  All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
