Job Description:Role Summary/Purpose:Reporting to the VP, Tech &amp; Ops Systems Governance Leader, the AVP, Tech &amp; Ops Control Automation Engineer plays a leading role in the automation of industry standard-based control activities that support Synchrony’s operations in the public cloud. This role identifies opportunities for control automation, collaborates with stakeholders on design improvements, and leads the technical build and implementation of these enhanced controls. The successful candidate is a creative problem solver and persuasive communicator with software development experience and a strong background in technology control design and operation in public cloud environments.  Our Way of WorkingWe’re proud to offer you choice and flexibility. Occasionally you may be required to commute to our nearest office for in person engagement activities such as business or team meetings, training and culture events.Essential Responsibilities:<ul><li>Drive innovation through Tech and Ops with a focus on using automation to eliminate manual control work, collaborative problem solving, and proactive process enhancement  </li><li>In collaboration with Synchrony cloud control framework owners, analyze existing control catalog to identify and prioritize candidates for optimization/automation </li><li>Engage with activity owners throughout Synchrony to define and document business and technical requirements for control enhancements/automation  </li><li>Execute build and implementation of enhanced/automated controls, utilizing traditional software development lifecycle practices </li><li>Interact and collaborate with stakeholders and control owners throughout the organization to implement necessary changes and modifications to mitigate operational, regulatory, and financial risks </li><li>Identify control gaps and potential issues, discuss viable solutions with stakeholders to ensure controls are operating effectively </li><li>Leverage critical thinking skills to look beyond existing methodologies and current discipline to define and resolve complex problems </li><li>Influence many agile development teams through all phases of the Agile development life cycle through SAFe  </li><li>Implement new technologies and assist developers as they migrate to new technologies  </li><li>Architect applications across the full stack, experience in PCF, Cloud Native Application Architecture, Microservices ecosystem, J2EE, Spring Java, and RESTful API’s, GraphQL APIs are a must. </li><li>Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned </li></ul>Qualifications/Requirements:<ul><li>Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering and minimum 6 years of related work experience, preferably at financial institutions/banks. In lieu of a degree, High School Diploma/G.E.D. and minimum of 8 years of related experience </li><li>Ability to interact and collaborate effectively with stakeholders of different experience and seniority </li><li>Minimum 5 years of experience in process optimization and/or software development </li><li>Proficiency in SQL and Python </li><li>Experience and/or certifications with industry control frameworks (e.g., Cyber Risk Institute Profile, NIST CSF) </li><li>Experience and/or certifications for Cloud Service Providers expertise (AWS preferred) </li><li>Experience with Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) tooling (e.g., ServiceNow Integrated Risk Management, SAI360) </li><li>Experience with workflow management tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Nintex) </li><li>Experience with Cloud Security Posture Management and logging platforms (e.g., Wiz, AWS CloudTrail, Splunk, NewRelic) </li></ul>Desired Characteristics <ul><li>Creativity – ability to formulate solutions by using diverse inputs and designing repeatable logic </li><li>Independent and organized – experience with Agile methodology is valuable </li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills </li><li>Experience with control testing for design and operating effectiveness </li></ul>Grade/Level: 11                                                                                       The salary range for this position is 90,000.00 - 155,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.                                 Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.Eligibility Requirements:<ul><li>You must be 18 years or older</li><li>You must have a high school diploma or equivalent</li><li>You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process</li><li>You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.</li><li>New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles.  Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles.  Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post.  All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).</li></ul>Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.  We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status. Our Commitment:When you join us, you’ll be part of an inclusive culture where your individual skills, experience, and voice are not only heard – but valued.
