You will work side by side with electrical technicians to bring up control cabinets, load and configure PLC software, and execute tests to confirm functionality and performance.  This is a remote, field-based position supporting regional site commissioning projects. We are seeking candidates located within one of our three U.S. regions — East, Central, or West — with current hiring for all three regions.  Team members will be based within their respective time zones to enable effective on-site collaboration with regional team members. Regular travel to site locations within the assigned region is required. </div><div>What we do</div><div>The commissioning team plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful deployment of robotic systems. They are responsible for overseeing the beginning and final stages of system integration, testing, and optimization before the automation solution is put into operation. This team works closely with engineers and technicians to fine-tune robotics and automation systems, ensuring they meet performance standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements. Their expertise in troubleshooting, calibration, and quality control helps Symbotic deliver efficient and reliable robotic solutions to clients across various industries. </div><div> </div><div>What youll do</div><div><ul><li>Drive the commissioning of HMI systems and establish robust connections with PLCs, ensuring optimal communication and functionality across customer systems. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Conduct end-to-end hardware testing and verify system performance to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Perform comprehensive system functionality tests, ensuring complete and seamless integration with the customers Warehouse Management System (WMS). </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Utilize advanced diagnostic tools to identify and resolve both hardware and software issues quickly and effectively, maintaining project timelines. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Acquire and maintain an expert-level understanding of the software and hardware used to support commissioning activities, ensuring proficiency in all tools and systems. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Drive the startup, commissioning, and testing of PLC-controlled equipment at customer locations, adhering to project deadlines and quality expectations. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Execute system integration testing of Symbotic adapter cells, storage solutions, and safety systems, ensuring full integration with customer WMS interfaces. </li></ul></div></div><div><div><ul><li>Execute tasks as outlined in the Commissioning Services Scope of Work (SOW), including control cabinet startup, software loading, configuration, and performance validation. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, software, and customer support) to ensure a smooth commissioning process and provide ongoing technical support during system go-live. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Drive the commissioning of PLC controllers, ensuring precise configuration and optimal performance for customer sites. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Oversee the commissioning of HMI systems, ensuring complete connection and integration with PLCs. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Execute end-to-end hardware testing, ensuring all systems are functioning per customer and project specifications. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Perform high-level system functionality testing to ensure the full integration with the customer’s WMS, making necessary adjustments to meet customer requirements. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Employ advanced diagnostic utilities to facilitate troubleshooting and resolution of complex system issues. </li></ul></div><div> </div><div>What youll need</div><div><ul><li>Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, Robotics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field required.   </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Experience with and/or exposure to one or more of the following areas:</li></ul></div><div><ul><li>PLC Systems: Experience with Rockwell Automation, Allen Bradley, Siemens, and HMI systems. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Robotics: Familiarity with ABB, Fanuc. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Industrial Networks: Knowledge of Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Interface Operators: Experience with Panel View Plus. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Proficiency in reading electrical drawings. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Familiarity with Linux and Windows operating systems. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Hands-on experience with motion control equipment (e.g., Variable Frequency Drives, VFDs) is a plus. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Ability to troubleshoot and provide remote system support using tools like Remote Desktop, SSH, and web browsers. </li></ul></div></div><div><div><ul><li>Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and execute in high-pressure situations. </li></ul></div><div> </div><div>Our Environment</div><div><ul><li>Remote, field-based position.  </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Travel is required up to 75% of the time. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Our main office is in Wilmington, MA. The person taking this position will be required to perform work at our customer installation locations for extended periods of time where equipment is installed and ready for commissioning.  </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms.  </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>The employee is routinely required to work at heights of up to 45 feet and within restrictive areas of 24 inches. to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Must comply with all safety requirements and protocols, including without limitation Lock out tag out safety protocols and fall protection safety protocols.  </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Approximately 75% of time will be spent on a construction site with PPE required (hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, eyeglasses, ear protection, fall protection (e.g., safety harness).  </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>There will be steep stairs to climb into the structure. You may be required to routinely walk up and down stairs to navigate the automation structure. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>You will regularly be near railings that are high off the ground.  </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes.
