As part of Stripes Organizations and Auth Platform, we own the platform for API keys, user roles, and access auditing, ensuring the right people have the keys to the kingdom-and no one else.</p> <p>We are a growing team of 6 engineers with an ambitious roadmap, blending deep platform work with direct product impact.</p> <h2>What you’ll do</h2> <p>You will design, build, and maintain the critical systems that control our user’s access to Stripe.</p> <h3>Responsibilities</h3> <ul> <li>Design and build the next generation of IAM primitives to securely power AI-driven agentic experiences on Stripe.</li> <li>Develop new user-facing permission models, including custom roles and granular access controls.</li> <li>Architect and implement platform features like Account Groups to simplify access management for large organizations.</li> <li>Own and operate mission-critical, highly-available backend services that are fundamental to every Stripe users experience.</li> <li>Work across the stack to ship end-to-end features, from API design and database modeling to the occasional frontend component.</li> <li>Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes as well as mentor team members.</li> </ul> <h2><strong>Who you are</strong></h2> <p><span>We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.</span></p> <h3>Minimum requirements</h3> <ul> <li>10+ Years in software development. </li> <li>A high bar for engineering quality and a passion for building resilient, scalable distributed systems.</li> <li>Experience designing, building, and operating backend services in a professional environment.</li> <li>The ability to navigate ambiguity and solve complex problems with a product-minded approach.</li> <li>Proficiency in a modern backend language such as Go, Ruby, Java, or similar.</li> <li>Mentor engineers at all levels, supporting their professional growth and technical leadership development.</li> <li>Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and design teams to define product strategy and user experience.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Preferred qualifications</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Experience with Identity and Access Management (IAM), authentication, or authorization systems.</li> <li>Familiarity with frontend technologies like React and TypeScript.</li> <li>Experience working on developer platforms or infrastructure.</li> </ul>
