With decades of experience creating and deploying real world systems for demanding environments, the Stack team is dedicated to developing an autonomous solution ecosystem tailored to the trucking industrys unique demands.</div>About the Role: The Onboard Infrastructure (OI) team is responsible for delivering the on vehicle software infrastructure that supports Stack’s real-time autonomous driving system. The team is composed of seasoned experts in real-time operating system and middleware software development for autonomous applications. The OI team is fundamental to Stack’s ability to deploy safe, reliable, and high performance autonomous driving solutions at scale.  Responsibilities:  <ul> <li>Lead and manage a team of highly experienced software engineers focused on C++ development of real-time, highly performant and resilient middleware for autonomous applications. Middleware covers all communications (inter and intra node), diagnostics, process management, memory management, logging, startup, shutdown and OS configuration. Implementations need to be both performant and safety critical.</li> <li>Set the vision and drive the short and long term roadmaps for onboard infrastructure at Stack.</li> <li>Collaborate cross functionally across the organization to define requirements for onboard infrastructure and drive projects from inception to completion.</li> <li>Lead the design and implementation of onboard infrastructure supporting the needs for a high performance, reliable, and observable runtime environment for our Self Driving System (SDS).</li> <li>Lead the design and implementation of onboard middleware responsible for integrating sensor (LiDAR, Radar and Cameras), IMU, GNSS, PTP, and other fundamental data used by the SDS.</li> <li>Actively contribute to the code base, design &amp; code reviews and hold the team to a high bar for code quality, build and test automation, and system metrics for observability.</li> <li>Own all managerial responsibilities for the team including hiring, performance management, and career development.</li> </ul> Qualifications:  <ul> <li>Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.</li> <li>7+ years of prior experience designing and developing real-time systems and middleware in C++ targeting a safety critical, resource constrained environment.</li> <li>Demonstrated expertise in real-time system development with proven familiarity in core concepts like networking, logging, diagnostics, and exception handling.</li> <li>Significant experience with and understanding of Linux based environments.</li> <li>Proven management and technical leadership ability with prior experience directly managing teams of experienced C++ developers.</li> <li>Prior experience leading onboard infrastructure development in a self driving or robotics company is highly preferred.</li> </ul> #LI-TT1<div>We are proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
