Reporting to the <strong>Manager of Payor Operations</strong>, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of SonderMind’s payor contracting function.</p> <p>In this role, you’ll manage the day-to-day operational and administrative processes that support payor contracting, from data analysis and rate management to reporting and project coordination. Success in this position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to drive results through organized, high-quality execution.</p> <h2>What you’ll do</h2> <p>The Payor Contracting Specialist will be a key member of the team supporting the overall strategy of the payor contracting department and will primarily focus on the following functions: </p> <ul> <li>Investigate, research and understand payor markets on a state level basis</li> <ul> <li>Payor mix analysis</li> <li>Reimbursement trends</li> <li>Products with commercial and government payors </li> </ul> <li> Review and maintain the contract life cycle process</li> <ul> <li>Load payor contracts into designated contract management database</li> <li>Track red-line agreements back and forth to the payors</li> <li>Prepare Agreements for signature</li> <li>Internal new payor announcements</li> </ul> <li>Payor Contract rate management</li> <ul> <li>Load new payor rates into designated database with accuracy as a focus</li> <li>Seek out fee schedules on a quarterly basis to identify any changes</li> <li>Proactively review fee schedules against insurance allowed amounts</li> </ul> <li>Assist Payor Managers with joint operating committee calls</li> <ul> <li>Prepare agendas, organize meeting notes, and coordinate follow ups </li> <li>Create presentations utilizing data </li> </ul> <li>Support new initiatives and contracting efforts that will maximize reimbursement and/or partnership opportunities </li> <li>Research and project manage </li> <li>Maintain documentation and organize the payor contracting department databases, shared drives and other tools</li> </ul> <h2><strong>What does success look like?  </strong></h2> <ul> <li>Within one month, have an understanding of SonderMind’s product/offerings and an ability to communicate this with confidence; develop a familiarity with internal systems needed to perform the role.<br /><br /></li> <li>Within three months, accurately manage rates, review fee schedules, and support Payor Managers in committee meetings. You should demonstrate a level of understanding of contract language terms and create data-driven presentations, research payor products, and manage new contracting initiatives.<br /><br /></li> <li>After three months, with the guidance and support of department leadership, contribute to the implementation of efficiences to decrease overall contracting timeframes and increase accuracy of contract administration tasks. You’ll implement tools to track performance, support team initiatives, and maintain organized systems acting as the key internal resource for cross functional partners. </li> </ul> <h2>Who You Are</h2> <p>You’re a detail-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and takes pride in bringing structure and accuracy to complex processes. You have a strong analytical mindset and enjoy translating data into meaningful insights that drive smarter decisions and stronger partnerships.</p> <ul> <li> <p><strong>Experience:</strong> 2+ years of experience in healthcare operations, payor contracting, or a managed care setting on either the payor or provider side.</p> </li> <li> <p><strong>Education:</strong> Bachelor’s degree preferred.</p> </li> <li> <p><strong>Skills:</strong> Deep analytical and financial acumen, strong data management capabilities, and comfort navigating both Microsoft and Google platforms.</p> </li> <li> <p><strong>Strengths:</strong> Organized, proactive, and resourceful with the ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities.</p> </li> <li> <p><strong>Communication:</strong> Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage cross-functional partners and present information clearly.</p> </li> <li> <p><strong>Mindset:</strong> Curious, motivated, and mission-driven. Eager to contribute to SonderMind’s goal of improving access to high-quality mental healthcare.</p> </li> <li> <p><strong>Bonus:</strong> Familiarity with the mental health industry, including payors, providers, and patients  is a plus.</p> </li> </ul> <h2><strong>Our Benefits </strong></h2> <p>The anticipated salary range for this role is $72,000 - $81,000. Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, skills, education, and past performance.
