Our Data Platform team powers that mission — building scalable infrastructure, enabling self-service, and delivering trusted data to every corner of the company.</p> <p>We’re looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Core Infrastructure and Services squad. In this role, you’ll oversee data infrastructure, platform services, and governance initiatives — from integrating diverse data sources into governance tools to evolving the foundational architecture that supports SoFi’s long-term growth.</p> <h3><strong>What You’ll Do</strong></h3> <p><strong>Data Platform Services</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Automate at Scale</strong> — Drive automation and self-service for governance, quality, and metadata to improve velocity and reduce operational overhead.</li> <li><strong>Streamline Ingestion</strong> — Unify data ingestion across real-time, batch, and CDC patterns for reliable, consistent entry into the platform.</li> <li><strong>Future-Proof</strong> — Design and evolve platform architecture for scalability, flexibility, and long-term growth.</li> <li><strong>Build Trust</strong> — Implement monitoring, validation, and quality frameworks to ensure data is accurate, fresh, and compliant.</li> <li><strong>Enhance Discovery</strong> — Improve metadata, lineage, and visibility so teams can find and understand data quickly.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Data Governance</strong></p> <ul> <li>Integrate sources like Postgres, S3, and DynamoDB into governance tools (Alation, Collibra).</li> <li>Define and enforce governance policies in partnership with stakeholders.</li> <li>Lead the development of metadata management and data quality capabilities.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Infrastructure &amp; Cloud Management</strong></p> <ul> <li>Manage SoFi’s data infrastructure (SDP), ensuring high availability and scalability.</li> <li>Oversee Terraform Cloud for IaC automation.</li> <li>Handle Snowflake RBAC and enforce secure data access.</li> <li>Monitor Snowflake &amp; AWS costs, implementing optimization strategies.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Leadership &amp; Strategy</strong></p> <ul> <li>Mentor engineers, promote best practices, and foster a culture of learning and innovation.</li> <li>Partner cross-functionally with product, ML, analytics, and compliance teams.<br />Develop a 3–5 year roadmap for data platform evolution.</li> <li>Evaluate and integrate SaaS and open-source solutions.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>What We’re Looking For</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).</li> <li>10+ years in data engineering, infrastructure, or similar roles.</li> <li>5+ years leading engineering teams in cloud-first environments.</li> <li>Proven experience with Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift — including architecture, security, and optimization.</li> <li>Strong background in AWS (S3, EMR, Lambda, ECS/EKS) and IaC (Terraform, AWS CDK, Helm).</li> <li>Expertise in ingestion/streaming (Kafka, DMS, Flink), orchestration (Airflow, dbt), governance (Great Expectations, Monte Carlo), and security/compliance frameworks.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Bonus Points</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Experience with open table formats (Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake).</li> <li>Familiarity with feature stores, ML pipelines, or vector databases.</li> <li>Performance engineering expertise (query optimization, caching, workload isolation).</li> <li>Track record of driving adoption of governance frameworks and platform modernization at scale.</li> </ul><div><div><strong>Compensation and Benefits</strong></div> <div>The base pay range for this role is listed below.
