Role Overview We are seeking a UK-based Capture Manager to support Slingshot’s International Business Unit (IBU) by driving strategy, structuring competitive deals, and managing capture efforts end-to-end. This individual will balance strategic thinking with hands-on proposal development, ensuring Slingshot wins key international opportunities across the UK, Europe, Canada, South America, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific. The ideal candidate combines strong capture management acumen, technical writing ability, and a proactive, collaborative mindset. They will work closely with the IBU Growth, Business Development, and Account Executive teams, as well as the U.S. Capture &amp; Proposal Team, to design and execute win strategies that drive measurable growth across international markets. Key Responsibilities <ul> <li>Lead capture strategy, execution, and delivery for international government, defense, and commercial space opportunities, with primary focus on the UK and European markets.</li> <li>Develop and execute end-to-end capture plans—from qualification through proposal submission—covering win strategy, team formation, pricing, and delivery.</li> <li>Author and lead proposal content creation, ensuring technical accuracy, compliance, and alignment with capture strategy.</li> <li>Drive proposal writing and storytelling, leveraging internal SMEs, templates, and AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) for high-quality, rapid content generation.</li> <li>Collaborate with the U.S. Capture &amp; Proposal Team to align Shipley-standard processes, tools, and best practices, maintaining global consistency across capture operations.</li> <li>Partner with IBU Growth, Business Development, and Account Executives to identify, prioritize, and pursue international opportunities.</li> <li>Conduct financial modeling and pricing analysis in coordination with Finance to ensure competitive and sustainable deal structures.</li> <li>Perform market intelligence, competitor assessments, and price-to-win analysis for targeted opportunities.</li> <li>Cultivate strong relationships with customers, in-country partners, and global primes to position Slingshot effectively in key markets.</li> <li>Represent Slingshot at UK and international industry events, conferences, and customer meetings.</li> <li>Ensure all capture and proposal efforts comply with ITAR, EAR, FMS, and local export and procurement regulations.</li> <li>Support forecasting, pipeline development, and strategic planning for the International Business Unit.</li> </ul> Key Attributes &amp; Soft Skills Strategic Skills <ul> <li>Proven ability to independently develop and execute capture strategies.</li> <li>Skilled in deal structuring, financial modeling, and Excel-based analysis.</li> <li>Balances big-picture strategy with tactical follow-through.</li> <li>Brings thoughtful, creative solutions to complex international capture challenges.</li> </ul> Proposal &amp; Writing Skills <ul> <li>Strong technical writing and proposal development experience, including content planning, compliance, and production.</li> <li>Able to write quickly and effectively while maintaining accuracy and clarity.</li> <li>Proficient with AI tools (ChatGPT, generative writing assistants, automation platforms) for proposal drafting and workflow efficiency.</li> <li>Comfortable managing the full proposal process while contributing directly as a writer.</li> </ul> Character &amp; Fit <ul> <li>Hungry, adaptable, and trainable — eager to grow within a fast-paced, international environment.</li> <li>Hands-on and collaborative — willing to roll up sleeves and learn Slingshot’s technology, products, and processes.</li> <li>Strong communicator who thrives in cross-cultural and multidisciplinary teams.</li> <li>Embodies Slingshot’s mission-driven, high-ownership culture.</li> </ul> Preferred Experience <ul> <li>Background in defense, aerospace, or adjacent industries.</li> <li>Understanding of space domain awareness (SDA) including ground-based tracking, spacecraft operations, or modeling and simulation.</li> <li>Familiarity with AI tools for content generation, workflow automation, and capture management.</li> <li>Experience with software development processes and architectures.</li> <li>Prior work in enterprise SaaS environments—especially candidates from large software companies looking to join a fast-growing startup.</li> <li>Shipley or APMP certification.</li> <li>Familiarity with HubSpot, Microsoft Office Suite, NetSuite, and Confluence.</li> </ul> Minimum Qualifications <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree required (field of study flexible).</li> <li>Minimum 5 years’ experience in capture management, business development, or proposal leadership in international defense, space, or technology markets.</li> <li>Proven success leading and writing winning bids valued at $XM+.</li> <li>Strong grasp of government procurement frameworks (e.g., UK MOD, ESA, NATO, or other international agencies).</li> <li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce technical, persuasive, and compliant proposal content.</li> <li>Willingness and ability to travel across the UK and internationally (up to 25%).</li> </ul> Perks &amp; Benefits <ul> <li>Remote flexibility (UK-based preferred)</li> <li>Stock options</li> <li>401(k) or equivalent retirement plan</li> <li>Mission-driven culture with high ownership and impact.</li> </ul> Location: United Kingdom (Remote)<div>US-based Candidates: we are currently only able to hire residents of the following U.S. states: AZ, CA, CO, DC, FL, GA, HI, IL, IN, KS, MD, MA, MI, MN, MO, MT, NV, NJ, NM, NY, NC, OR, RI, TN, TX, UT, VT, VA, WA, WV, and WI.
