These capabilities directly define the video quality and range of the drones, two key “why buys” for Skydio customers. You will work closely with our hardware, wireless, embedded, mobile and cloud software engineering teams to define and shape both the underlying technology and also the radio products themselves. You will be working directly with customers to build out our industry-leading workflows to unlock scaled remote operations across Utilities, Public Safety and Federal markets.  Location This position is based onsite 5 days/week at our HQ in San Mateo, CA. What you will be responsible for in this role: <ul> <li>Be the product wireless software owner for Skydio’s Fusion, cellular (LTE, 5G), Enterprise wireless(802.11) and Federal multi-band radio protocols, settings, controls and workflows.</li> <li>Be the product owner for video streaming to maximize customer experience.</li> </ul> What you will be doing in this role: <ul> <li>Engage with customers and internal stakeholders to understand core business problems and develop strategies to solve them.</li> <li>Work cross-functionally, and in close cooperation with the hardware engineering, mobile, cloud and wireless teams, to define new products, scope and prioritize features, and maintain a clear wireless software product roadmap.</li> <li>Work closely with designers and other product leaders to build out end-to-end wireless workflows that are delightful for both technical and non-technical customers.</li> <li>Drive technical and business tradeoffs, providing executive-level recommendations, as the wireless subject matter expert for Product Management.</li> <li>Capture, document, and distill feedback from customers and internal testers to continually improve your products and features.</li> <li>Partner with Product Marketing to develop launch plans, product positioning and messaging to bring your products to market. </li> <li>Collaborate closely with Sales and Customer Success to build and maintain close customer relationships, and ensure proper training and support.</li> </ul> Required experience that would make you a good fit for the role: <ul> <li>3+ years of proven success in defining and delivering complex products, owning end-to-end products spanning hardware and software.</li> <li>Strong understanding of wireless communication protocols, such as Wi-Fi, LTE, 5G, and mesh networking.</li> <li>Experience with firmware, cloud infrastructure, and edge computing related to connectivity and streaming.</li> <li>Proven ability to leverage technical depth and business acumen to lead strategic tradeoffs and executive-level product recommendations.</li> <li>Experience defining and launching innovative end-to-end product workflows spanning HW, SW and cloud.</li> <li>Highly facilitative team player who strives to enable others to do their best work.</li> <li>A passion for speaking with -- and learning from -- customers.</li> <li>Deep technical expertise in networking, video encoding, low-latency streaming, and cloud-based telemetry.</li> </ul> Potential added backgrounds that would make you a great fit for the role: <ul> <li>A background in wireless engineering or computer science.</li> <li>Direct experience leading products in Robotics, AI, drones or aviation categories.</li> <li>Experience working closely with Utilities, Public Safety or Defense customers.</li> <li>Video streaming experience over variable links and different codecs. </li> </ul> Compensation: At Skydio, our compensation packages for regular, full-time employees include competitive base salaries, equity in the form of stock options, and comprehensive benefits packages. Compensation will vary based on factors, including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience. Relocation assistance may also be provided for eligible roles. The annual base salary range for this position is $127,500 - $185,000*.
