Due to Federal requirements, only US citizens, US naturalized citizens or US Permanent Residents, holding a green card, will be considered. About the Role:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Systems Engineer to join our Mail &amp; Messaging team in Systems Engineering. This role goes beyond automation scripting—our ideal candidate will be a seasoned developer capable of building and maintaining robust, scalable systems and services. You’ll work on complex backend components that power our mail infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on Python development (or comparable languages).Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Architect, develop, and maintain backend systems and services supporting Mail &amp; Messaging infrastructure.</li><li>Write production-grade code in Python (or JavaScript, Java, or Go) to support scalable, high-performance systems.</li><li>Design and implement APIs, service integrations, and backend logic for mail-related services.</li><li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system reliability, scalability, and maintainability.</li><li>Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across the stack—from infrastructure to application logic.</li><li>Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and architectural planning.</li><li>Contribute to automation and configuration management using tools like Ansible or Puppet.</li><li>Build orchestration workflows by leveraging features of the ServiceNow platform.</li><li>Support containerized deployments and CI/CD pipelines.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3>To be successful in this role you have:<ul><li>Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AIs potential impact on the function or industry.</li><li>Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelors degree; or 6 years and a Masters degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience.</li><li>Strong experience with Linux and Linux-based services running at scale.</li><li>Advanced proficiency in Python, with the ability to design and implement complex systems.</li><li>Experience working on mail systems is highly desirable.</li><li>Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible or Puppet is a plus.</li><li>Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.</li><li>Strong understanding of distributed systems, networking, and system performance.</li><li>Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.</li><li>Strong communication and collaboration skills.</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications:<ul><li>Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).</li><li>Knowledge of security best practices in systems and application development.</li><li>Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.</li></ul> For positions in this location, we offer a base pay of $147,300 - $257,800, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
