If youre ready to drive change and make history, apply now!</div><h4>Overview</h4> As the Senior Staff Software Engineer for Scout Motor’s Engineer for Scout Motor’s digital products, you will be responsible for leading a team of highly skilled software engineers and driving the development of digital solutions for our customers and business partners. Some of the key products as part of digital portfolio are – order management, customer management, marketing, production, inventory and planning optimization, loyalty, merchandise, servicing and repairs, mobile apps, vehicle connectivity, and more. You will work with engineering managers, senior engineers, and cross-functional partners to design the technical underpinnings of the product. At the same time, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to be hands-on building key systems and will be directly responsible for the successful delivery of complex and large-scale technical efforts as well acting as a technical mentor and leader for other engineers. <h4>What you’ll do</h4> Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck &amp; rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:   <ul> <li>Architect, design, and develop scalable and performant mobile applications for Android and iOS</li> <li>Define and drive implementation of best practices in mobile development, including accessibility, security, testing, performance, scaling, and maintainability</li> <li>Lead and mentor engineers across multiple squads, fostering growth and raising the technical bar for mobile app development</li> <li>Work with Product and Design teams to deliver seamless and pixel perfect user experiences while balancing technical feasibility and scalability</li> <li>Make critical decisions on frameworks, tooling, and component architecture to support long-term code health and efficiency</li> <li>Lead the technical roadmap, ensure alignment with business goals, and guide major initiatives from concept to launch</li> <li>Collaborate with backend and platform engineers to ensure smooth integration and consistency across the digital stack</li> <li>Be a hands-on contributor while influencing engineering culture and processes across the team</li> </ul>   Location &amp; Travel Expectations: <ul> <li>This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location Fremont, California.  </li> <li>The responsibilities of this role require 1 day per week attendance in office with in-person meetings and events regularly. </li> <li>Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time. </li> </ul> <h4>What you’ll bring </h4> We expect all Scout employees to have integrity, curiosity, resourcefulness, and strive to exhibit a positive attitude, as well as a growth mindset. Heres what else youll bring:  <ul> <li>Education/Certifications: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, or a related technical field</li> <li>Years of Experience: 10+ years in software development and experience with scaling software products (with at least 6+ years specific to mobile development), and 4+ years in technical leadership roles focused on mobile app development, preferably with cross-platform apps using React Native</li> <li>Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders</li> <li>Deep expertise with mobile app development languages (Java/Kotlin, Objective C/Swift, and React Native) with experience using NodeJS and TypeScript</li> <li>Proven ability to define and drive the architectural direction for large-scale applications, with extensive experience building complex applications that consume CRUD operations in GraphQL, RESTful, and/or RPC APIs—ensuring long-term scalability, maintainability, and performance</li> <li>Deep knowledge of UI/UX design principles, mobile-first design, performance optimization, and a desire to create pixel perfect layouts</li> <li>Deep understanding and practical experience in identifying, mitigating, and preventing common security and sensitive information vulnerabilities like Cross-Site Scripting (XSS), deep linking vulnerability, network and API security, SQL injection).
