If youre ready to drive change and make history, apply now!</div><h4>Overview</h4> The Senior Manager, Environment, Health &amp; Safety – Production is responsible for overseeing day-to-day EHS activities during the construction and production launch of Scout’s South Carolina vehicle manufacturing facility. The role ensures a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment while driving continuous improvement and fostering a proactive safety culture across all operations. Reporting to the Senior Director, EHS, this position partners with stakeholders throughout the organization to develop and implement effective programs, policies, and standards that support Scout’s long-term EHS and production objectives. The Senior Manager plays a key leadership role in establishing Scout Motors’ production operations on a foundation of safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence. <h4>What you’ll do</h4> Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck &amp; rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following: Strategic Alignment &amp; Planning <ul> <li>Support the Senior Director in developing and implementing EHS strategic objectives aligned with Scout’s corporate and production goals.</li> <li>Translate strategic direction into actionable programs and measurable outcomes.</li> <li>Provide input on long-range EHS planning, resource needs, and operational readiness for production launch.</li> <li>Monitor emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in EHS to inform future strategy.</li> </ul> Culture and Engagement <ul> <li>Create and foster collaborative relationships with stakeholders, regulators, and team members.</li> <li>Embrace Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles and ensure incorporation into EHS activities, objectives, and initiatives.</li> <li>Identify opportunities for employee engagement to make EHS part of daily work for all Scouts.</li> <li>Lead, coach, and develop the EHS team; serve as a technical expert across functions.</li> <li>Use proactive data and insights to drive EHS programming forward.</li> <li>Innovate on traditional EHS practices to better support employees and business needs.</li> </ul> Program Development &amp; Implementation <ul> <li>Contribute to the development and deployment of EHS policies, procedures, and programs.</li> <li>Implement EHS initiatives in a collaborative, results-driven manner that ensures adoption and compliance.</li> <li>Deploy Process Safety Management (PSM) systems for covered processes; oversee safety buyoffs for equipment installation and commissioning; manage ergonomic interventions.</li> <li>Support activities to achieve ISO 14001, 45001, and 50001 certifications.</li> <li>Collaborate with occupational medical and early symptom intervention providers, workers’ compensation representatives, and others for case management and return-to-work programs.</li> <li>Develop and manage an operating budget for consumables and services.</li> </ul> Standards, Systems &amp; Continuous Improvement <ul> <li>Maintain standardized documentation of EHS programs, inspections, audits, and corrective actions.</li> <li>Track and report key performance indicators (incident rates, audit outcomes, training completion).</li> <li>Benchmark Scout’s programs against industry best practices and lead targeted improvements.</li> <li>Support the development of SOPs and performance dashboards promoting transparency and accountability.</li> </ul> Digital Systems, AI and VR <ul> <li>Utilize Benchmark, Avetta, and Hammertech to monitor EHS program health and contractor compliance.</li> <li>Identify and manage appropriate use of AI and VR tools (e.g., Gaize) for impairment testing, risk identification, and training.</li> <li>Serve as system owner for Hammertech, Avetta, and Gaize.</li> </ul> Risk Management &amp; Compliance <ul> <li>Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, including environmental permits (PSD, Title V, industrial wastewater, etc.).</li> <li>Perform risk assessments addressing equipment safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, process safety, and environmental impacts.</li> <li>Develop and implement corrective action plans based on assessments, process knowledge, and event data.</li> <li>Maintain required regulatory records and workers’ compensation documentation.</li> <li>Serve as the primary contact for regulatory agencies and auditors.</li> <li>Assure closure of any audit and incident-related corrective actions in area of responsibility.</li> </ul> Communication &amp; Reporting <ul> <li>Develop and deliver communications related to production-related EHS performance and initiatives.</li> <li>Provide leadership with regular reports and dashboards summarizing key metrics and trends.</li> <li>Lead internal awareness campaigns that promote proactive safety and environmental responsibility.</li> </ul> Budget &amp; Resource Management <ul> <li>Develop and manage the EHS production operating budget, including tools, consumables, and professional services.</li> <li>Identify cost-effective solutions to enhance EHS performance and compliance efficiency.</li> <li>Track spending against budget and report variances to the Senior Director.</li> </ul> Location &amp; Travel Expectations: <ul> <li>This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, SC and Blythewood, SC.</li> <li>The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. </li> <li>Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.</li> <li>Travel: Domestic and International Travel Required, up to 15% of the time.
