The Role:
As a Data Center Technician, you’ll play a critical role in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and decommissioning of physical infrastructure in the data center. Youll support a wide range of hardware, including mobile phones and tablets, microcomputers, servers, and wired and wireless networking equipment. This role combines physical hands-on work with systems-level diagnostics and support.
Responsibilities:
Troubleshooting & Support
- Utilize monitoring tools to identify and restore mobile devices in an errored state.
- Perform battery replacements and minor hardware repairs to mobile devices.
- Identify and resolve hardware and software related issues on devices and systems..
- Run diagnostics and analysis on Linux, Android and iOS based hardware.
- Work with remote teams to support diagnostics via smart hands.
Infrastructure Deployment & Maintenance
- Rack, stack, and cable servers, switches, storage devices and real devices.
- Perform hardware installations, upgrades, and replacements.
Security & Compliance
- Enforce data center physical access controls and security protocols.
- Escort third-party vendors as needed and monitor access logs.
Inventory & Logistics
- Track incoming and outgoing equipment using internal ticketing and DCIM systems.
- Perform regular audits on hardware and parts inventory.
- Coordinate and process hardware RMAs with third party vendors.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of work orders, hardware changes, and incidents.
- Contribute to operational runbooks and knowledge base articles.
Required Skills
- Onsite presence is required four-five days per week including weekends for this role.
- 1–3 years in a technical support, IT field service, or data center environment.
- Strong understanding of hardware components (mobile devices, servers, networking).
- Familiarity with cable management, rack layouts, and labeling standards.
- Hands-on experience with Linux command line (basic navigation, logs).
- Basic understanding of fiber/copper cabling and TCP/IP networking.
- Willingness to travel domestically up to 10% of the time to provide in-person support and to encourage collaboration with your team.
Nice to have Skills:
- Experience with device labs or mobile device farms.
- Hands-on experience with Linux command line (basic navigation, logs).
- Certifications (e.g., CompTIA Server+, Network+, Cisco CCNA, or similar).
- Experience with ticketing systems and remote monitoring tools.
We are a hybrid workplace that recognizes the importance of flexibility while valuing in-person collaboration and relationship building. As a result, Saucers located near an office location must be able and willing to come into the office. Those hired remotely must be able and willing to travel to an office as required by the specific role.
