As part of a recently public company, you’ll have the autonomy and support to make an impact as we build for the long term.</div>About the role: <h4>In this role, you will: </h4> <ul> <li>Work with the product manager, routing &amp; optimization and safety teams closely to design and build maps infrastructure, editor and pipelines.</li> <li>Own the design and implementation of frontend and backend services that effortlessly scale no matter size of the fleet</li> <li>Partner with the engineering manager and advocate for technical excellence on the team</li> <li>Navigate tradeoffs between moving fast and building for the long term using customer impact as the north star</li> <li>Act as a simplifier that ensures our solutions are built to serve our diverse customer base</li> <li>Communicate your work to not just engineering audiences but also our internal product partners to maintain a tight feedback loop</li> <li>Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Work backwards from winning, Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices</li> <li>Hire, develop and lead an inclusive, engaged, and high performing team</li> </ul> Minimum requirements for the role: <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience</li> <li>8+ years of experience as a software engineer</li> <li>Full-stack or backend development experience (React, Typescript, Golang).</li> <li>Strong programming/coding fundamentals with ability to leverage AI tools during development</li> <li>Track record of leading design, development, deployment and maintenance of distributed, highly scalable software systems</li> <li>Experience mentoring and supporting engineers and role modeling excellent engineering practices within a technical lead capacity</li> <li>Experience taking end-to-end ownership of product, feature designs, development and delivery of large scale and long running projects</li> <li>Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage technical discussions</li> </ul> An ideal candidate also has: <ul> <li>Proven experience shaping and improving mapping, routing or navigation products</li> <li>A passion for mentoring and helping junior engineers grow</li> <li>A track record of thriving in 0→1 teams and scaling them through the post–startup phase</li> <li>The ability and willingness to engage directly with customers when needed</li> </ul><div>At Samsara, we welcome everyone regardless of their background.
