This is a deeply technical problem space that blends real-time data, thoughtful UX, and platform-wide coordination to create a seamless experience under challenging conditions, like poor connectivity, dynamic job schedules, and constantly changing routes. You will be surrounded by a high-calibre team that will encourage you to do your best. </li> </ul> <h4>In this role, you will: </h4> <ul> <li>Develop and maintain high-performance mobile applications for iOS and Android, delivering complex features at enterprise scale.</li> <li>Design and implement polished, user-friendly UI components with a focus on accessibility and consistency across platforms, ensuring an excellent mobile user experience.</li> <li>Profile and optimize application performance and responsiveness by identifying bottlenecks, reducing render times, and improving memory usage, resulting in smooth and stable app behavior on all supported devices.</li> <li>Integrate with native iOS/Android modules and APIs when needed by leveraging bridging capabilities to unlock platform-specific functionality.</li> <li>Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to plan and build new mobile features, ensuring code quality through peer reviews, robust testing, and adherence to mobile development best practices.</li> <li>Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.</li> </ul> Minimum requirements for the role: <ul> <li>6+ years of software development experience</li> <li>4+ years of hands-on mobile app development experience</li> <li>Strong track record of performance tuning in mobile apps, including the use of profiling tools and techniques to diagnose and resolve performance issues</li> <li>Hands-on experience ensuring mobile app accessibility compliance, applying best practices so that the app is usable by all customers</li> <li>Solid testing and debugging skills in a mobile context – experience writing unit and integration tests, and utilizing continuous integration pipelines to maintain app stability and quality</li> </ul> An ideal candidate also has: <ul> <li>Hands-on mobile app development in production environments</li> <li>Proven experience creating native modules with native iOS and Android code (Objective-C/Swift and Java/Kotlin)</li> <li>Familiarity with geospatial or mapping technologies such as Mapbox or Google Maps SDK</li> <li>Domain experience in logistics, fleet management, or industrial IoT</li> <li>Background in native mobile development (Swift/Objective-C and Kotlin/Java)</li> </ul><div><div><div>Samsara’s Compensation Philosophy: Samsara’s compensation program is designed to deliver Total Direct Compensation (based on role, level, and geography) that is at or above market. We do this through our base salary + bonus/variable + restricted stock unit awards (RSUs) for eligible roles. For eligible roles, a new hire RSU award may be awarded at the time of hire, and additional RSU refresh grants may be awarded annually. We pay for performance, and top performers in eligible roles may receive above-market equity refresh awards which allow employees to achieve higher market.</div><div>The range of annual base salary for full-time employees for this position is below.
