As part of a recently public company, you’ll have the autonomy and support to make an impact as we build for the long term.</div>About the role: In this role, you will work with the Head of Financial Reporting to drive all SEC financial reporting activities. You will also own the accounting and reporting for the Company’s equity awards, and help drive initiatives to improve the Company’s external reporting process. You will work closely with the Accounting team and across the organization (Tax, Legal, Finance, Investor Relations), as well as with external auditors and consultants. This is a remote position open to candidates based in Canada. You will be surrounded by a high-caliber team that will encourage you to do your best.</li> </ul> In this role, you will: <ul> <li>Own the preparation and review of the Company’s SEC filings, including Form 10-Qs, 10-Ks, 8-Ks, and annual proxy statements, as well as ensuring appropriate iXBRL tagging of related content in Workiva.</li> <li>Prepare the Company’s consolidated financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, stockholders’ equity, and cash flows) and footnote disclosures, and ensure they are presented in accordance with GAAP guidelines.</li> <li>Gather supporting data, perform tie outs and analysis for SEC filings.</li> <li>Perform flux analyses to support the quarter-end close and drafting of the MD&amp;A.</li> <li>Identify proper accounting and disclosure and assist in performing related research and documentation of such issues in accounting whitepapers; propose suitable disclosures and benchmark against industry standards.</li> <li>Apply ASC 718 principles in the accounting and reporting for the Company’s equity programs, including employee stock purchase plan, etc., including valuation and disclosures for external reporting.</li> <li>Work closely with external auditors to support the successful completion of SAS 100 quarterly reviews and annual audit.</li> <li>Prepare presentations, including review and tie out, for executive management and Audit Committee.</li> <li>Identify and implement process improvements and controls.</li> <li>Maintain the reporting calendar to inform stakeholders of necessary deadlines for the Form 10-Q/K and 8-K earnings compliance.</li> <li>Participate in special projects as required.</li> <li>Provide training and support on Workiva SEC Reporting Solution.</li> <li>Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.</li> </ul> Minimum requirements for the role: <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting.</li> <li>Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience. </li> <li>Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience in financial reporting, including at least 1 year of experience at a public company or public accounting firm.</li> <li>Experience with ASC 718 principles.</li> <li>Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP), accounting processes, and SOX requirements.</li> <li>Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.</li> </ul> An ideal candidate also has: <ul> <li>CPA.</li> <li>Experience prioritizing and managing time, working under strict deadlines, and ensuring compliance with company policies.</li> <li>Experience in tech and IPO is a plus.</li> <li>Must be a fast learner, multi-tasker with a strong desire to learn and have a ‘can do’ attitude.</li> <li>Strong initiative, intellectual curiosity, and willingness to take ownership of complex problems.</li> <li>Must be able to collaborate and communicate effectively.</li> <li>Experience with Workiva SEC Reporting Solution and iXBRL review. Experience with NetSuite and/or Schwab EquiView is a plus.</li> <li>Critical thinker, able to implement scalable processes.</li> <li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and analytical skills.</li> <li>Strong organization skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.</li> </ul><div><div><div>The range of annual base salary for full-time employees for this position is below.
