Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world. <div><div><div><div><ul><li>Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe, Reliable, Maintainable and delivered on time. </li><li>Life Cycle Engineering consists of multiple disciplines that support engineering, our program offices and our customers. </li><li>Our Life Cycle Engineering disciplines participate in the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation.  Our focus area is product support, including the following disciplines:  Reliability System Safety and Supportability.</li><li>This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated  Software Safety Engineer II to join us on the Land &amp; Air Defense Systems (LADS) System Safety team in Tewksbury, MA.</li></ul>What You Will Do:<ul><li>As a Software Safety Engineer II, your responsibilities will include:</li></ul><ul><li>Analysis of engineering hardware, mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics assessing for fault tolerance, latent hazards, and safety requirements compliance.</li><li>Work with system test and tactical operation and maintenance procedures to ensure the proper administrative system safety controls are in place.</li><li>Work across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.</li><li>Collaborating with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal backgrounds.</li></ul><ul><li>Performing System Safety Program or Design analyses.</li><li>Working with a large system safety program or multiple mid-sized safety programs, including:</li><li>Monitoring program technical execution, Interfacing with stakeholders (e.g. customers, program offices, subcontractors, vendors).</li><li>Preparing Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for Customer Approval.</li><li>Briefing safety of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process.</li><li>Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards.</li><li>Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program.</li><li>Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design.</li><li>This position is posted as ONSITE and is based at the Raytheon Tewksbury, MA location.</li></ul>Qualifications You Must Have<ul><li>Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.</li><li>Experience with analysis of engineering hardware, mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics assessing for fault tolerance, latent hazards, and safety requirements compliance.</li><li>Experience with system test and tactical operation and maintenance procedures to ensure the proper administrative system safety controls are in place.</li><li>The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
