The Sr. Design Engineer will conceptualize, design, integrate, and document mechanical-focused hardware using computer-aided design, mechanical analyses, and consistent coordination and communication across teams to ensure successful hardware performance.  Application of design for manufacturing and assembly best practices will be a critical skill set to be successful in this position. This role may also include leading teams in the completion of above tasks. The primary work location will be on-site at the Raytheon Tucson office. Willingness to perform work in proprietary spaces may be required based on program assignment. Some travel may be required to meet and work with vendors and to support testing and other activities as needed.What You Will Do<ul><li>Work with engineers across the business to propose, design, develop, integrate, and document within the mechanical design department.</li><li>Communicate with cross-disciplined, engineering team members and suppliers to design, model, and document the design technical data package (TDP) and its capabilities and compliance to requirements</li><li>Work under limited supervision and act as the responsible design authority</li></ul>  Qualifications You Must Have<ul><li>Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.</li><li>5 years of experience in mechanical design and/or development, preferably defense-related components or systems.</li><li>Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&amp;T), basic tolerance analyses, drawing practices and/or interpretation (ASME Y-14.5) for mechanical hardware</li><li>Understanding of military or aerospace or defense specifications and/or industry design standards</li><li>Experience in Computer-aided Design (CAD) experience using Creo and/or Pro E or cPDM</li></ul>Qualifications We Prefer <ul><li>8+ years of experience in mechanical design, development, and/or test, preferably of defense-related components or systems</li><li>Experience in airframe development, electronics packaging, mechanisms, for missiles or similar applications</li><li>Understanding of and experience with the use of additive manufacturing for metallic structures and components</li><li>Understanding and experience of manufacturing techniques and assembly best practices</li><li>A passion for design for manufacturability and assembly (DFMA)</li><li>Experience with advanced surfacing techniques for complex geometry</li><li>Knowledge and experience in top-down design methodology and skeleton design</li><li>Demonstrated collaboration with cross-disciplined teams, using trust, respect, and innovation to drive results towards a shared vision</li><li>Experience with effective communication (written and verbal) during collaboration with others to document design actions and results, to perform trade studies, and to communicate to program management and customers through presentations and reports</li><li>Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for technical analysis, data sorting/plotting, and technical documentation</li></ul>What We Offer<ul><li>Our values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world.
