Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world.  The Radar Analog and Power Department is seeking an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to serve as the Naval Power System Technical Lead.  The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in the design of Power Generation/Conversion and Distribution products that meet Naval shipboard power performance requirements and have demonstrated strong leadership and planning skills with the ability to budget, direct and peer review the engineering team tasks.  The candidate should have strong interpersonal skills to provide accurate progress and technical status to Customers and internally within the program. Previous experience working with customer Naval tech Warrant holders, Consultants and shipyards is highly desired.  The Radar Analog and Power Department is responsible for design engineering including the following areas:<ul><li>Power System Design - Power System compliance with Naval Standards (eg. MIL-STD-1399 and MIL-STD-461), System Simulation and Modeling, High Voltage Design, Power Energy Sources, Generators</li><li>Power Conversion - AC/DC, DC/DC, Power Factor Correction (PFC), Energy Storage and AC Synchronization, Noise Control mitigation</li><li>Power Distribution - Ground, Air, and Shipboard, Power Generation, Line Voltage, High Current, Low Voltage, DC, AC, Multi-Phase Power Control, Fault Reporting, Isolation, Protection Circuits, Redundant Systems</li><li>Power Sub-System Design - Filters, Harmonic Control, EMI, Circuit Simulation, Magnetics, Protective Relay Systems, Short Circuit, Arc Fault and Component Stress Analyses</li><li>Control Systems – Power Generation Control Systems, Motor/Power/Process Control, Load Sharing and Black Prevention</li></ul>This position is an onsite role.What you will do:<ul><li>Direct a team of engineers to develop technical solutions based on system performance and operational specifications.</li><li>Design, analyze, simulate, test, and document power conversion systems. </li><li>Resolve production /technical issues related to existing Raytheon or subcontractor product designs</li><li>Perform design work within the bounds of a given schedule and costs.</li><li>Present reviews of technical data for program leadership, technical staff, and customer community. Manage related risk discussions. </li><li>Lead small teams to success with schedule, budget, and technical execution</li><li>Engage in personal technical growth and facilitate technical growth in peers and junior engineers.  Help to understand what opportunities are needed to mature the organization on the technical front.</li><li>Travel to Tewksbury, MA; Marlborough, MA; Andover, MA; Woburn, MA; may be required depending on the assignment.</li></ul>Qualifications you must have:<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major.</li><li>Minimum of 8 years of experience in power system design, power conversion, power distribution, power sub-system design and/or control systems</li><li>Experience leading design teams within the Naval Shipboard Power business sector.</li><li>Experience with Naval Shipboard Electrical Standards; MIL-STD-1399, MIL-STD-917, and/or MIL-STD-461.</li><li>The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
