Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world. ​The Precision Control Actuation System department is seeking a mechanical design engineer to join the Harness and Interconnect organization to support the development, build, and verification of harnessing ​systems. The PCAS organization staffs engineers for a variety of roles supporting primarily tactical missile Integrated Product Teams. ​What You Will Do ​<ul><li>At this grade level, you will be expected to work autonomously with periodic oversight, have advanced knowledge of the harness and interconnect domain, and coach and review the work of other professionals. ​</li><li>Support may include but is not limited to detailed mechanical design, test design and execution, systems engineering, proposals and estimates, or earned value management. ​</li><li>You will be expected to flex responsibilities based on the current needs of the organization and their respective skill sets. ​</li><li>You will coordinate with IPT leads to establish priority and will be responsible for execution to that priority.</li><li>You will be the focal harness/interconnect POC that leads a small team of experienced mechanical engineers in the harness discipline.</li><li>To be successful in this role, you will create and/or maintain a highly visible dashboard that drives action through articulation of scope/complexity of tasking, status with recognition of cost and schedule, and support required to meet deliverables.</li><li>You will regularly interact with vendors, incorporating lessons learned. Travel to vendor sites may be required.</li></ul>What you will Learn​<ul><li>The PCAS organization provides ample opportunities for hands-on hardware work. PCAS engineers are exposed to a variety of lab activities including engineering builds, hardware integration, and hardware verification. ​</li><li>The PCAS organization provides a strong technical learning environment with a dedicated technology pyramid comprised of engineering fellows.  PCAS engineers are provided the opportunity for direct access to these ​subject matter experts, fostering accelerated technical and professional growth. ​</li></ul>Qualifications You Must Have​<ul><li>Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulation.</li><li>A minimum of 8 years of engineering experience in a harness/interconnect role or 5 years related experience with an advanced degree.</li><li>The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.</li></ul>Qualifications We Prefer ​<ul><li>Experience with engineering of complex systems of devices and interconnects. ​</li><li>Experience with development of harnessing requirements, system architecture, requirements risk, requirements verification and validation, system performance &amp; function, safety and environmental compliance.​</li><li>Experience working with a wide variety of industry / military standards and specifications.</li><li>Experience generating first order electrical analysis including, but not limited to DC resistance and voltage drop.</li><li>Experience deriving applicable technical requirements from higher level specifications.​</li><li>Experience in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5.​</li><li>Proven ability to deconstruct higher level tasks into discrete lower-level work packages and tasks​.</li><li>Proven ability to take ownership of complex harnessing systems and coordinating completion of technical data packages with peers​.</li><li>Experience developing technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems related to the entire product lifecycle including proposal, design, manufacture, integration and test​.</li><li>Developing subject matter expertise in round wire, rf, and/or rigid-flex harnesses.</li><li>Experience with harness design with mixed signals including knowledge of differential signals and shielding for EMI/RFI and crosstalk concerns.</li><li>Experience with Pro/Engineer/CREO 3D modeling and mechanical drawing generation.</li><li>Experience with Mentor Capital, Creo Schematics, or similar system design software.</li><li>Experience with flex and rigid flex design including familiarity with ECAD software, PCB design, signal integrity, copper weight calculations, adhesives, dielectrics, coverlays, stiffeners and thermal management.
