In Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SETC) we integrate, verify, and validate our products. We put our systems together, exercise them in the lab or in the field, measure and analyze performance, and make sure our products work the first time and every time. To accomplish this, we develop plans and procedures, debug and evaluate system functions and interfaces, develop test environments, and work hand-in-hand with our customers.

We are hiring for the Stormbreaker Platform Integration and Flight test lead role. This role is for a lead engineer working on a weapons system called Stormbreaker, which gets tested and integrated onto military aircraft—specifically the F-35 fighter jet. You will be supporting the successful completion of flight test events, platform integration laboratory testing events, and the associated analysis of test data.  

This position is an onsite role in Tucson AZ. Remote work is not possible.

What you will do

  • Lead a team if engineers in platform integration and testing on F-35 aircraft in the field and provide test plans and report writing at home station.
  • Make cost and schedule decisions and meet monthly and annual reporting requirements
  • Perform integration, verification, and field qualification testing to ensure the system under test performs according to specifications/requirements.
  • Perform data collection activities, including review and analysis of data elements, and provide detailed reports of results. 
  • Create/modify documentation in support of reviews associated with formal testing, which may include Test Readiness Review (TRR) and Test Data Review (TDR) packages.
  • Support field testing and occasional travel for durations typically for a one- or two-week duration.
  • Ability to obtain a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) security clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain additional program access as required.

Qualifications You Must Have

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline, such as Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics or Math and a minimum of Eight (8) years of relevant experience.

  • Cost Account Manager (CAM) experience and certification
  • Platform Integration/Flight Test experience
  • Integrated Product Team Lead experience
  • Experience leading a team
  • Active and transferrable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • CAMEO experience
  • Current SSBI Clearance
  • A strong advocate for process improvement
  • Telemetry Analysis experience.
  • Radio Frequency spectrum analysis and field-testing experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with MATLAB and 1760 Interface
  • Experience with fighter aircraft

Location Information

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
