Rocket Solutions for COBOL, mainframe application delivery and host access offer a comprehensive, proven solution across the three pillars of mainframe modernization – application, process and infrastructure – to achieve unprecedented speed to market, competitive advantage, and operational efficiency.Our Enterprise Suite Professional Services Team is looking for a highly skilled Mainframe Modernization Senior Consultant to provide technical support and/or leadership in the creation and delivery of technology solutions designed to support our Customers’ Digital Transformation.The ideal candidate will possess deep technical skill and relevant project experience in at least one of the following focus areas:<ul><li>Infrastructure modernization projects</li><li>Application modernization projects</li><li>Process modernization projects</li></ul>The candidate will also be able to deploy fit for purpose workload in a Hybrid Cloud infrastructure, evolve from monolithic application to Cloud-Native API Microservices, and embrace an enterprise-wide DevOps discipline to deliver application faster.<h2>Main Responsibilities:</h2><ul><li>Works on complex project scope with minimal direction from the technical lead and with Customer/SI nominated representatives to accomplish assigned tasks. </li><li>Contributes to design for specific deliverables and assists in the deployment of Rocket Software products</li><li>Contribute to implement new solutions under the direction of a Solution Architects </li><li>Create proof of concept / proof of value technology analysis and pilots.</li><li>Conduct external and internal technical presentations/trainings to peer groups.</li><li>Uses and contributes to technical forums within the Rocket Software environment and local professional communities and technical user groups.</li><li>Applies own subject matter knowledge to solve a variety of common technical issues. </li><li>Exercises independent judgment within defined practices and procedures to determine appropriate action</li><li>Participates as part of a team and maintains good relationships with team members and customers. </li></ul>​<h2>Expected Qualification and Soft Skills:</h2><ul><li>7+ years of relevant technical experience </li><li>Excellent communication / customer service skills / confident telephone manner</li><li>Proactive and able to work under pressure</li><li>Experience in complex IT project implementations, customizations and or maintenance</li><li>Must have an analytical mind set to analyze test result and facilitate defect resolution</li><li>Organized and methodical, dealing with numerous tasks. </li><li>Fluent in written and verbal English.</li></ul>​<h2>Technical skills: </h2>Technical skills must include Rocket Enterprise Suite (Enterprise Developer, Enterprise Server) experience and two or more of the following:<ul><li>IBM Enterprise COBOL or PLI programming experience </li><li>System level experience of IBM CICS;  IMS and JCL</li><li>Relational databases, such as IBM DB2/UDB, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.</li><li>Windows operating system</li><li>Linux/UNIX operating system</li><li>Knowledge of major Cloud Provider infrastructure and technologies, such as AWS, Azure, GCP, Cloud Foundry, Docker / Kubernetes</li></ul>​<h2>Desired Project Experience:</h2>A practical experience in any mainframe application modernization project is highly desirable. For example:  <ul><li>Experience with tools and methodologies used to migrate mainframe workloads via hardware/middleware emulation, automated code conversion, and re-platforming.</li><li>Experience with COBOL modernization and porting application code across platforms.</li><li>Familiarity with agile engineering practices like Test Automation, Test-Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD), DevOps, and Test Data Management, etc.</li><li>Experience developing, deploying, and tuning data modernization solution for mainframe such as IMS/DB, IDMS, ADABAS and VSAM data migration</li><li>Experience with implementing and operating DevOps and Agile tools/platforms across some part of the development lifecycle</li><li>Experience configuring automation pipelines in GitHub, Azure DevOps, AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins or similar tools.</li><li>Committed to Rocket Core values of Empathy, Trust, Love and Humanity</li></ul>​<h2>Other Preferred Skills:</h2><ul><li>Bachelors degree in computer science or related field</li><li>Rocket Software COBOL based products – Enterprise Developer, Enterprise Server, Server Express, Net Express</li><li>Any additional mainframe language or environment, such as REXX, Assembler, Natural, Adabas</li><li>Relevant Business and IT Architecture Certifications such as, AWS Solution Architect Professional, Microsoft AZURE Solution Architect, Google Cloud Certification, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), etc.</li></ul>#LI-MM1#LI-RemoteThe base salary range for this role is $126,319.00 - $157,898.50 /year.
