To succeed as an Associate Software Engineer on this team you will need an eye for detail and be motivated to identify and mitigate player pain. </p> <p>As an <strong>Associate Software Engineer</strong> you will be exposed to a large scope of services and architecture at Riot. You will help your team by working on assigned tasks designed to leverage standards to make services easier to operate and maintain. You will contribute your creative thinking and problem solving skills to help identify and mitigate production problems while following your technical leads direction as they drive long term systemic fixes. You believe that just because things are hard doesnt mean they arent worth doing.</p> <h2>Responsibilities:</h2> <ul> <li>Leverage alerts, metrics, tools and services to identify availability and reliability issues</li> <li>Work on automation to reduce toil and improve mean time to detect, respond and mitigate issues</li> <li>Be on rotational on-call for live product support and operational assessment</li> <li>Participate in meaningful code review for your work</li> <li>Produce comprehensive user documentation around your implemented solutions</li> </ul> <h2>Required Qualifications: </h2> <ul> <li>Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field or relevant professional experience</li> <li>Ability to work with software languages like Go, Java, Python, or JavaScript</li> <li>Basic understanding of how the HTTP Protocol works</li> <li>Ability to work remotely and provide on-call support </li> </ul> <h2>Desired Qualifications:</h2> <ul> <li>Experience working in a Site Reliability capacity</li> <li>Experience with API development using REST</li> <li>Experience with prioritizing and maintaining high-capacity, high-availability, and high-performant software, especially back-end services</li> <li>Familiarity with Site Reliability best practices</li> <li>Experience working in container-based ecosystems and with a container scheduler (e.g. Marathon, Mesos, Kubernetes, GKE, or Amazon ECS)</li> <li>Experience with distributed systems, specifically microservices</li> <li>Understand relational databases like MySQL</li> <li>Experience with CI/CD pipelines, especially Jenkins</li> <li>Understand software performance and influence latency in online games</li> <li>Experience with AWS (or comparable cloud environments)</li> </ul> <p>Don’t forget to include a resume and cover letter.
