The Red Hat High Availability &amp; Shared Services team, which contributes to the OpenStack project, is looking for an intern with a basic understanding of cloud computing concepts. Based in Dublin, Ireland, our team focuses on shared services which include databases, messaging queues, and testing infrastructure, among other areas.In this role, you will work alongside experienced engineers to contribute directly to the development and maintenance of OpenStack. You’ll help troubleshoot issues, write and review tests, validate documentation, and propose solutions that have a real impact on upcoming releases. The expected start date is January 2026.What you will do:<ul><li>Actively contribute to agile ceremonies, OpenStack platform discussions, and upstream community collaboration.</li><li>Design and execute tests to validate new features and ensure stability.</li><li>Support DevOps practices by working with CI/CD pipelines, containerisation tools, and infrastructure automation.</li><li>Contribute to the development and maintenance of OpenStack.</li></ul>What you will bring:<ul><li>You must be enrolled in an accredited university program in the Republic of Ireland during the full duration of the internship and must be able to join us full time from January till August 2026</li><li>Working knowledge of written and spoken English</li><li>Programming experience with Python and/or Go.</li><li>Familiarity with CI/CD infrastructure.</li><li>Ability to adapt quickly to change and independently break down tasks.</li><li>Knowledge of Git and GitHub.</li><li>Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts.</li></ul>The following are considered a plus: <ul><li>Knowledge of containers and platforms such as OpenShift, Kubernetes, or cloud providers like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.</li><li>Previous contributions to open source projects or publicly available code samples on GitHub.</li><li>General understanding of software testing concepts, including unit, integration, and functional testing.</li><li>Experience working in Agile environments or on team-based projects using tools like Jira.</li></ul>Due to the limited number of internship opportunities and the high volume of applications, we may not be able to speak with every candidate.
