About the JobThe Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our global OpenShift Networking team. In this role, you will work as part of a global software development team to design, architect, and implement future networking solutions for Red Hat OpenShift. Your primary responsibilities will be related to Red Hat OpenShift and networking solutions. You will work as part of a distributed team both on your own and in close collaboration across Red Hats platform engineering teams. What You Will Do<ul><li>Design, develop and implement networking solutions for Red Hats next-generation platforms, including Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift</li><li>Become responsible for the quality of our offerings, participate in peer code reviews and continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) and respond to security threats (CVEs)</li><li>Participate in, lead and create upstream networking project communities, including contributing new development work and existing features and fixes for projects like <a href="https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/" target="_blank">Kubernetes</a>, <a href="https://github.com/ovn-org/ovn-kubernetes/" target="_blank">OVN-Kubernetes</a> and <a href="https://github.com/ovn-org/ovn" target="_blank">Open Virtual Networking (OVN)</a></li><li>Use your deep networking expertise to help customers solve complex business problems with creative solutions</li></ul> What You Will Bring  <ul><li>Strong networking knowledge, including expertise in one or more of switching and routing protocols</li><li>Experience with cloud technologies, network functions virtualization (NFV) and software-defined networking (SDN)</li><li>Experience using programming languages like Go, Python or C/C++</li><li>Understanding of how open source and free software communities work</li><li>Motivated with a proactive attitude, willingness to tackle new problems and an ability to develop new architectures and identify good ones</li><li>Ability to work well as part of a team in a highly collaborative, distributed environment with a diverse team</li><li>Good communication skills in English</li></ul> The following are considered a plus:  <ul><li>Experience with Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift and container networking technologies</li><li>Experience with Linux networking technologies</li><li>Experience with development for public cloud services, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Compute Engine (GCE) and Microsoft Azure</li><li>Ability to present to customers and stakeholders</li><li>Previous contributions to open source projects or being an open source maintainer</li></ul>The salary range for this position is $116,270.00 - $191,840.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.Pay TransparencyRed Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity.
